Hi, I'm currently in the process of fixing my car, cleaning and painting parts along the way. It's somewhat a slow process as I get the money together for everything, so I'm proceeding step by step. I have for example my aluminum plenum off, ready to scrub and clean it. But of course, I want to avoid flash rust. My question is, could I apply XTC primer to the parts and wait for a week or so before painting color and clear coats on it? Or is it better to apply the other products right after the drying time of the XTC primer? Thanks in advance

About to rust seal a fuel tank. I've read where a little WD-40 on threads will prevent rust seal coverage. If I let rust seal cover the threads of the fill neck, would the gas cap still fit?

I previously coated parts of my frame with rust seal about two years ago. I am now finishing the rest. Will rust blast applied over existing rust seal etch it and make it permanently chalky/white or will it wash right off during the rust blast step?

I bought a factory five kit car that was produced in 2011 but never built. Has some flaking of paint (very minor) around some of the welded joints. I have the chassis stripped of all driving components. The next step is to rivet sheet metal over all of the tubular frame. Not sure of the make up of the metal (some appear to be aluminum and others just plain ole sheet metal). I would like to cover the frame and sheet metal with some kind of protective coating. Both the top and bottom (interior side and road side). 1. What products would you recommend? 2. What prepping should be done of the frame and sheet metal? 3. Is paint applied by brush or spra…

I picked up a Dolphin Tee Top a few months ago. Its the original model. The factory finish is brushed AL. It in very good condition, with no corrosion, but that bushed finish with water spots looks like crap. I want to refinish it. I'm going to mount it on my Outrage. It's not one piece, bolts together. What do you recommend? I have used you kits to finish or refinish a couple of fuel tanks, but they are not visible or exposed to UV light. Karl

I am repainting the transmission from a 1972 Eldorado. The unit has theee different types of metal surfaces: steel, aluminum, and cast iron. I have the Klean, Rust Blast, and Motor Coater products on hand. Are there any special precautions or steps I need to take in working with these different surfaces? Thanks, Andrew

I'm planning to restore a 1970 Honda CB750 and i want to paint the frame using the KBS motorcycle frame kit. The frame I have has faded paint and slight rust. My question is do I need to remove the old paint or can I paint over the existing paint with the kit? Also I have 3-4 frames that I would like to paint at the same time. Can I use the blacktop chassis paint in a paint sprayer? If so, how would you dilute the paint with paint thinner? Thanks

I am planning to Rustseal and then undercoat the underside of my Impala using the three step process,. If I need to grind down to bare metal to weld on an exhaust hanger, for example, can I touch up the exposed area by applying Rustseal and then rubberized undercoating to the bare metal? Will this be effective in preventing rust?

I just welded a rear quarter panel on and was thinking of using this as a seam sealer to cover the weld seams and then sand it smooth. Would it be best to paint RustSeal first, then push this epoxy into the seam sand it smooth then top coat with another coat of RustSeal for protection?

I just picked up a 1982 Suzuki GS750E. Once I got it home I realized the tank was a mess and filled with large flaky rust. The petcock was shot and there was rust in the fuel line. I plan on tearing the carbs apart and cleaning them and replacing all the gaskets but I needed to start at the top of the fuel delivery so I needed to address the tank. I bought the KBS kit. So I was nervous. I have performed a myriad of tasks on a motorcycle but have never done a tank so this was new. The instructions and video are great but I had a nice paint job on my tank and didn't want to ruin it. So ... I hope some of the things I discovered will help others and I am sure the mods will …

Why is it so important to paint your products in thin coats? I've painted quite a bit and a lot of paints I've use don't require this. What is different about your paints?

Hi KBS. I found the attached information on a forum. Please confirm it is all true. I am using it at my car club meetings in UK to spread the word on your products (I have used them for some time now. Attached information I wanted to respond to several of the replies in an effort to get the users the best outcome regardless of the product they choose to use. First both %&!-15 and RustSeal are closed cell urethanes, never shaken, always stirred. The fact that they are closed cell paints means you have to use thin coats, why? because the paint has to cure throughout it's thickness before the surface seals over unlike a conventional automotive …

I noticed on your Tank Sealer directions it says you can use duct tape or electrical tape to provide a sufficient seal to allow me to rotate, turn and invert the tank without the sealer spilling all over the place. Can I use Duct tape to seal up the hole when I use your KBS Strip so it won't spill all over?

I'm looking to seal my gas tank but not sure if I need to purchase your strip or not. The inside of the tank is really dirty and it's hard to tell if there is a sealer already in the tank that should be removed. Any recommendations with trying to find out if there is a sealer already in the tank?

I am going to be using my KBS products for two different jobs a few months apart. Is the BEST way to store KBS by cleaning can ridges, covering with thick plastic wrap, sealing the lid and refrigerating? How about freezer (or is that overkill)?

I ordered some products to paint my motorcycle frame. The frame is in good shape overall with only a few very small rust spots. I am concerned about adhesion on such a clean surface.I know the RustBlast etches the metal but I confused whether the etching properties only work on rusted metal and not clean metal. So far, I have striped the factory paint and sanded with 150 grit. Should I go ahead with the KBS system from here OR could I sand up to 220/320 grit?

My surface (auto engine compartment) is mostly bare metal with a few areas of paint. It has been wire brushed, sanded and treated with KBS Klean. I treated the surface with RustBlast, rinsed, and then blew the surface dry. The surface now is now a copper color streaked with white. Is this flash rust and was it a mistake to blow the surface dry? What is my next step? I want to be sure I get a good rust free finish before I put the engine back in and assemble the car.
