I have a Buick Grand National that I am doing a body off restoration and need to paint the under body there is not much rust at all just a few minor spots. I have looked at another Paint Over Rust company and Chassis Saver and spoke with those guys both agree that there product will not adhere well to the bare metal floors that I have from a wire wheel. What I want is a good long lasting product that will stick and show well and not have fading issues it will be under the car but I have read reviews people still had fading it would be a real pain to paint once it's back together! So what are your recommendations? Also I want a satin black finish in case it matters.

After having treated areas for rust and used KBS Self-Etch Primer, it may be some time before I am able to prepare the metal for the bodywork build and finishing coats. To stop any moisture getting into the Self-Etch primer, is there a Epoxy Sealer that you would recommend that bonds well to the Self-Etch and that will not react with its acidity ?? Cheers for any help ...

I am painting the exhaust pipes of my motorcycle with the Hi-Temp Primer and Hi-Temp Paint. I would really like them to have a beautiful glossy shine to them. Is the DiamondFinish ClearCoat able to withstand high temperatures just like the Hi-Temp? The product page mentions that it is "suitable for Motors and Brake calipers", but it doesn't say anything on the information sheet about what temperatures it can withstand. I look forward to your reply! Thanks!

Most of the descriptions I see use your product on plating or chassis (parts that are not seen). I have a 1978 VW bus with some surface rust on the roof. Can I use your product and get a nice finish to paint? If so, what products would I use and what would be the steps to apply. Thank you

I would like to buy the cycle tank kit to restore the tank for a 1985 Honda Odyssey. My concern is that I will not be able to use the sealer because it may clog up the fuel supply lines that are inside the tank. Any thoughts or concerns?

I'm in the process of sealing a leaking tank. The instructions say that the tank should be left to cure for 96 hours and then says to wait 4-5 days before adding fuel. Does this mean that the 96hrs and 4-5 days are cumularive? Meaning that the tank is out of order for effectively 8-9 days (96 + 96)? Thanks

I have a front suspension crossmember I'm restoring and I only sandblasted the worst areas of it. So now its bare metal in some places and still rusty in others. Should I only spray the AquaKlean and RustBlast on the rusty areas, or should I do the whole thing for the sake of uniformity?

G'day, I'm looking to coat a landcruiser gearbox, transfer case and bellhousing, is the rust seal (along with rust blast and aqua klean) compatible with cast aluminium? Plus, would you recommend a top coat over the rust seal since the gearbox does cop a fair bit of abuse? Cheers, Hurell

A brief check in from a first time user: On my weathered and heavily oxidized fiberglass canopy, as instructed over the phone and on the info sheets, I applied the Aqua-Kleen, then the Rust Blast, followed by 2-coats of Rust Seal. When dry, I will apply 2-coats of the Top Coat. Surprised to note a limited area of non-adhesion (fish-eye, perhaps?) despite the topical preparation without any abrasive prep. I'm hoping a light sanding will prepare an optimal bonding surface for the Top Coat. Any suggestions? Many thanks.

I shall be using your 3 Step Chassis coating kit on a race car we're restoring. more specifically we would like to use the KBS 3 Step kit around bits of the roll cage where theres light surface rust etc as it was never sprayed because the gun could not get into these tight spaces. could you give me some tips on how i could go about applying the KBS seal to these parts? the paint is not flaking, just where it starts turning into overspray to bare metal that has surface rust.. how would i go about cleaning that and prepping for the seal??? would i need to sand it down first? is there any negatives if the aquakleen or rust blast dries or if it doesnt get washed with wat…

Hi, I am trying to treat a rust problem in the rear cargo area of my Mazda van. The rust affects about 10% of the floor area. I had the whole floor plastic bead blasted which got rid of all remaining paint, the bulk of the rust and enlarged the few holes that I discovered. There are dozens of small pinholes and a few holes 50mm in diameter or smaller. The blasting guy told me to paint the whole floor with rust converter, let it cure (2 days) then power wire wheel the whole floor which I did. I am taking the van to a panel shop next to get the holes welded closed/patched (no filler will be used). I read your directions and I think I need to use Rustblast then R…

Can you tell me the amount of Aquaklean, Rustblast and Gold sealer I would need for this size tank. Also exterior coating recommendations. This is a baffled tank and has corrosion on the outside to go along with a pin hole in one corner. I plan to tig weld the corner after cleaning. Do you see any problems with this? Just don't want to blow myself up after cleaning.

I intend to cover the underside of my newly installed galvanized floorboards w/ Herculiner. The rest of the undercarriage will be coated w/ KBS rust seal then the herculiner. Should I use the rust seal over the floorboards as well? I intend to sandblast the rest of the undercarriage. Should I do the same to "etch" the galvanized steel? Or, how would I get the best results?

I have a 1952 FX Holden I am restoring. I am replacing the outer sill panels as they are moderately rusted, with some small holes. I planned on coating the inner sill surfaces with rust seal. My question is, do you have any thought/suggestions re coating the welded inner portions of the panels? I had thought of using a spray nozzle & accessing the inside of the sill through some holes drilled through the inner sill panel, much in the manner of rust proofing practice. These holes would them be sealed with rubber plugs. While this is not necessarily a 'perfect' solution, it's the best I can think of at present. Any ideas would be appreciated. Ray

I'm very unhappy as I write this.I just bought the KBS tank sealer kit in hopes of saving money and not buying new tanks for my truck.I spent the first 2 days of Memorial weekend cleaning and preping the tanks. I followed the instructions to a "T".This afternoon when I put the GOld Seal in the tank,I rolled it around for about 15 minutes per the instructions. When I tried to drain the sealer I found that it was already setting up.I kept rolling and draining excess paint as best I could for about 45 minutes. When I finally finished it looked very good inside.Nice and smooth and no puddles that I could see. When I checked the tank again after about 4 hours, the paint inside …

Hi I tried KBS Rust seal (Satin black) for the first time today, with mixed results. I had some sandblasted car parts (disassembled wind screen wipers and some larger pieces), but because I'd handled them a bit, I decided to test the AquaKlean and RustBlast. The first RustSeal coat went on nicely. All the brush marks smoothed right out, and I got a nice even finish. The parts were pretty fiddly to paint, so the jar I had transfered my stirred paint into was open for quite a while (maybe an hour). There wasnt too much left in the jar, so for the second coat, I used FRESH paint from my cling-wrap sealed tin (opened only while stirring & pouring). I waited 3-4 hour…

You will NOT want to paint the inside of your threads. RustSeal will end up being 5-6 mils thickness. If it is bolted together, RustSeal will help to keep it permanently sealed together. You will not want to do that if you plan on taking the bolt off easily.Complete RustSeal instructions can be found here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/RustSeal-Information-and-Instructions_ep_38-1.html

This tank is notoriously difficult to drain. Even with the gas tap, fuel level and main filler opening it requires much "shaking and rocking" along with pulling the last half pint or so out with a suction device like a Mighty vac. Also, it would seem that keeping the exterior painted surfaces clear of material is going to be a significant challenge. How corrosive or paint damaging are the Aqua Kleen, Rust Blast and Sealer? What do you suggest for a suitable barrier material to keep those fluids off the paint? Or is that simply not feasible? Having just drained my tank and having watched the instructional videos, I think the best process is to plug the gas tap and fu…

Bill, some tank designs definitely present different challenges. If you do not allow the AquaKlean & RustBlast to soak on the exterior and rinse it off with clean water if it should get on the paint, you should have no problems. We mask off previously painted tanks with plastic to help minimize the contact time. You have the right idea in suctioning out the remaining AK & RB and any excess water. Remember to let the tank dry VERY WELL after the final rinsing, as you don't want any moisture in the tank when sealing. As for the excess sealer, do your very best to drain out any excess, then keep the tank moving every 10-15 minutes to allow the sealer you were una…

That sounds good. I can see it being a bit of work to mask off the painted area but I think I will give that a whirl. I will also need to create a "stopper" for the main fuel fill opening as the factory tank cap is vented and will leak fluid when inverted. The specifications for the tank is 7.5 total capacity. How important is it to proportion the amount of Aqua Kleen, Rust Blast and Tank Sealer? It looks like 7.5 is approx 60% of the 12 gallons that the Large Cycle Tank Sealer kit will cover. Thanks Bill

Last Fall I did a test patch of your product on my garage floor. I put it down right where I drive over it. Also, we live on a dirt road so the cars track in mud all Winter. All Winter, I have been grinding the road dirt into the paint. Well, its Spring and time to see how KBS did. Well, it looks like its brand new. When I broke off the caked on mud it still had a shine. So, I want to do the entire floor and the wooden shelves (2X4's and plywood). One issue, the wife says she managed to slip on the painted area more than once when it was wet/icy/muddy. What would you recommend to use as a grit in the top coat?

I just purchased a used 24 gallon plastic gas tank for my boat. In the corners of the bottom of the tank are some heavy varnish deposits from years of storing bad gas. I've tried to "pry" off the varnish (which has the consistency of tar/gum) but there is still quite a bit of it left. Remarkably, it is very tacky and does not want to come off. Will any of your products work to remove this varnish from a plastic tank?

Hello. I'm in Cairns and this is the tropics. I'm doing the underside of my Valiant and I'm aware of what you said about rust seal and humidity, however I have a timeline and need to get into the wheel wells, underneath, boot and engine bay. Thanks

I have purchased a Chevy pickup that has rust starting to show. I have cut out what I can see and patched it properly, but I know there must be more that I cannot see, and that I will have to neutralize it by spraying something inside all the cavities. Is your product appropriate for this application?
