Hello, I am an artist and I am currently doing marble faux finish on plaster. I use homemade oil glaze, composed by turpentine, dammar varnish, linseed oil and cobalt dryer. I need an extra hard, clear gloss finish for this surface, to make it durable and resistant to scratching. Would Diamond Finish be an option? Thank you.

The tank of my motorcycle (1973 Yamaha RD 250B) has been repainted by a professional shop and pinstriped, also by an expensive professional. Will any of the procedures or chemicals used to overcome the tank's rusty interior damage its external finish? I imagine this question has been asked before but I couldn't find a way to search this forum for a specific topic. I apologize if this is redundant. Uncle Billy

I bought Rust Seal in Grey and going to top coat it with Blacktop. Is the Grey color going to be more difficult to cover being the Blacktop is black. In your online directions it instructs to use Black Rust Seal and then Blacktop. Thanks.

I'm a first time user of your products. I've made modifications to a trailer. Some new metal some old metal with original paint. I used a rust converter that was purchased from a local auto parts store. I applied it to the bare metal and ruffed up the painted surfaces. I followed the instructions and covered it with a Rustoleum self etching primer. It's been a few months and now rust is bleeding through about 40% of the prepped surfaces. I want to make sure that I use the right procedure working with these conditions. I purchased your three step product at the National Hot Rod show in Louisville Ky. this weekend. There is no flaking rust. I would say it is light to modera…

I own a Motorhome, and the clearcoat on the top is failing. The section failing is not very visible, so I would like a roll-on solution to prevent further damage to the paint. Can this product be applied over exising paint, hold up to the UV beating on top of my RV and be applied via roller? If so, what surface prep do you recommend? Chris

having the rear frame of my 2006 sierra sand blasted. what products should i use on it? also for the front of the truck under the cab is pretty bad but isn't getting blasted, what products should i use on that? the problem is the calcium chloride or whatever road salt has eaten away the metal and the oem paint and coatings on everything from the chassis to the parking brake cable brackets has flaked off.

Hey this is my first post and I hope this is in the right section. Ok I bought a junkyard tank a while back and cleaned and striped it with the kbs kit and then I primed it. Now recently I decided to change the gas cap which required some brazing. Now I know its going to need a recoat. So I would like to strip the tank inside and out with some kind of acid so I can do a recoat. Now the easiest way would be to take it to the radiator shop and let them do it for I think $80, that includes there liner. Thanks

Hello, I'm doing a lot of research to find the best tank liner for my 91 Yamaha V-Max 1200. Your product seems to be the one of choice, but I might have a special situation. My bike's gas tank is not like conventional top tanks. It actually sits right under the rider’s seat. There is no petcock valve and the fuel pick up line is welded into the tank and it extends to its bottom. Also there is a vent line at the top that has a small orifice for the breather hose. Since preparation requires the handling of the tank, it is not an easy job to remove my tank from the bike. It requires jacking up the bike and removal of the back wheel, swing arm and other parts. Not a simp…

Hello, I am restoring a 74 Bronco. I want to use KBS instead of Rhinoliner to seal off the entire interior body of the truck. There have been bondo repairs on the floor panels and there are some holes to be patched. I started sanding the interior with a wire wheel and a drill. I see rust coming off the floor panels, however I do not see bare metal. Occasionally i do see sparks (I'm guessing from steel). There are pieces of carpet still attached in some spots. My main questions are: 1.0 - How do I know when to stop sanding when I don't see bare (shiny) metal? How much rust do I need to remove for the product to perform well and last? 2.0 - Will the Trunk and Flo…

I am wanting to have it all look the same once reassembled would spraying with rustblast to "etch" the new galvanising be enough to make the rust seal stick well? or do i need to leave it weather for several months first as well? any other advice would be great thanks W

I would like to know which products that you would recommend for painting my car's engine compartment. I plan to pull the engine. The engine compartment is dirty and greasy. There are just a few rust spots, the rest of the area is tired looking paint. I realize that KBS products work great on rust, but 90% of the area of the engine compartment is rust free. Should I use the Fusion Self Etch products on the painted areas? What should I use in the rust areas? Which products and prep would you recommend?

i am restoring a king midget, all new sheet metal. some of the new parts have sat for several months and have surface rust. i used Rust Blast and did a good job of removing the rust. i flushed with water as per instructions. i first tried nason self etch primer, then nason ful poxy primer. i got fish eyes, streaking and just a messy look. i will probably have to sand or sand blast to get the primer off. i was hoping to avoid sand blasting with the RustBlast product. i'm no pro painter but have painted cars , motorcycles etc. several times over the years and never had problems like this. should there be another step between Rust Blast and priming that i'm missing, or w…

I want to paint over a chrome auto bumper: AquaKlean, RustBlast, then RustSeal followed by the OEM topcoat paint. It is hard for me to believe this will allow proper long-term top coat adhesion of paint to such a slick original surface without any need to bead/sandblast or at least scuff that surface before topcoating. Any opinions or suggestions from someone who's attempted this particular application or one like it would be greatly appreciated.

I have an older car with a vinyl roof. Because of cracks and splits in the vinyl, water has seeped in and there are rust bubbles across the entire roof, especially along the tops of the windshield and rear window. I haven't stripped the vinyl roof off yet, but I do have water leak(s) during a hard rain. What KBS products would be best to repair this damage? Thanks in advance!

Bought this stuff because I heard a lot of good about it and KBS had the color I wanted. I brushed two coats of the silver rustseal on my frame after following the proper steps. After that I sprayed three coats of the diamond clear on because it wasn't supposed to yellow or fade, this was back beginning of july. Now I have the whole backhalf of my truck an ugly green and its starting to rust everywhere from underneath. After a month it was already an olive green, now its 10x worse. This is ridiculous...what can be done and how am I going to get all this crap off my frame? A couple weeks after it was done, nice shiny silver: Now:

I would like to paint my engine bay with something resistant to the usual things one finds there (oil, brake fluid, heat) in a colour that is a reasonably close match for the red exterior of the car. I have had problems with heat destroying paint in this car's engine bay before. So my questions are: Can I use motorcoater in this application? What is its resistance to oil, brake fluid etc? And how can I get a more accurate idea of the colours than on a computer screen (obviously not good!)?

Hello, At a recent car show I came a crossed your product and fell in love with it's versatility and easy of use. Over the last week or so I have been trying to study it as much as possible. I am perparing to restore a 79 Jeep J/10 and plan to use many of your products. I would like to know are the following. 1.) Can I spray your RustBlast and RustSeal over the entire outside of the truck. I did read here on another forum page that RustBlast must be used before any NuMetal is applied to body panels. 2.) I plan to apply 3 coats of the Gloss Black RustSeal, with proper curing times adhere'd to. Once that is done I would like to apply a stripe …

Not expecting anyone to know what I am speaking of so I will try and explain the best I can. On the Ford 7.3 diesel engine Ford did something stupid. They put a fixed cross member under the oil pan, so replacing it requires the engine to be pulled. My son bought a truck and I am getting it ready to head to ND where he is stationed in the USAF, so I want it good and sealed before it leaves. The way the dipstick tube is routed is it enters a flange that protrudes from inside the pan and a large nut on the outside of the pan compresses a O ring on the flange and seals the area, then the dipstick tube is pressed into the flange with a O ring on it to seal that connection. Wel…

Do you have a topcoat that is recommended for the exterior of motorcycle tanks. I’m specifically looking for something that has some protection from fuel spillage and UV, that is shiny like a normal paint (acrylic or 2 pack finish). Some of your products are fuel resistant, could you elaborate on what this means? If I spill fuel while filling up do i just need to wash it with water immediately to avoid damage? Alternatively can I just use any brand paint (black) and then cover it with Diamond Clear? Thanks!

Some time ago I used a competitor's product that claimed extraordinary chip and scratch toughness, as you do for your product to paint a motorcycle frame. . I used a quality automotive primer, fully cured and applied the competitor's product. I then let it cure for three weeks. When assembling the bike, I found that the coating was very easily scratched and was less resistant than normal two pack paint. Needless to say I was very disappointed. Now I wish to use one of your surface coatings to paint another bike frame. For best results would it be preferable to have the frame in bare metal, or primed. Which product is best suited to my needs, and how do I avoid…

I don't see this as a topic yet, so here goes. I have a bike that apparently fell into the Atlantic ocean at some point (yes, it was an eBay "find"). The aluminum seatpost was stuck fast in the steel frame, for starters. I did get that out and have used a variety of stones, brushes and abrasives to clean that tube out. BUT - there are many other "blind" tubes that I am sure are rusted - most have small access holes where they are welded to larger tubes, or VERY small drain holes at their far end (1/8" or so). Do you have a suggested variety of products and methods to address stopping, cleaning and preventing further rust in such an application? I see your "unders…

Hi, After applying RustKlean and RustBlast, is it ok to wipe down with a wet rag or am I better off hosing the chassis down with water and allow it to air dry ? I'm just a bit uncertain of spraying the chassis with water considering the whole purpose is to remove the rust. Water creates rust. Also I would think the chassis would dry alot faster if it was wiped down with a wet and dry rag. cheers

Hi there, I recently purchased a horse trailer with quite a bit of rust. I was directed to this site but that's about it. Yes I am a girl, Yes I want to do this myself. But I really, really need some help as to what to do! There are some spots rusted through in the feed mangers and the sides. I'm going to replace the floor and the lights. Most of the rest of the trailer has rust, but not rusted through and it still quite strong. How do I go about this? I've heard people talk about sand-blasting, but I have no idea where to get that done, how much it costs, etc. Can I use these products to do the rust removal myself! Is rust-seal used as a paint. then you put a top-coat ov…
