August 4, 201114 yr comment_2116 Hi there, I recently purchased a horse trailer with quite a bit of rust. I was directed to this site but that's about it. Yes I am a girl, Yes I want to do this myself. But I really, really need some help as to what to do! There are some spots rusted through in the feed mangers and the sides. I'm going to replace the floor and the lights. Most of the rest of the trailer has rust, but not rusted through and it still quite strong. How do I go about this? I've heard people talk about sand-blasting, but I have no idea where to get that done, how much it costs, etc. Can I use these products to do the rust removal myself! Is rust-seal used as a paint. then you put a top-coat over it? I'm really very clueless but very anxious to learn! Any advice would be much appreciated! August 8, 201114 yr comment_2486 You will want to clean the entire horse trailer with AquaKlean (http://www.kbs-coatings.com/aquaklean.html) (and preferably a pressure washer) and then etch the entire horse trailer with RustBlast (http://www.kbs-coatings.com/rustblast.html). Then coat the entire horse trailer with two coats of RustSeal (http://www.kbs-coatings.com/rustseal.html). After you have the horse trailer coated with RustSeal, then patch the holes with NuMetal Epoxy Putty (http://www.kbs-coatings.com/epoxy-putty.html). You can then coat the NuMetal Expoxy Putty (http://www.kbs-coatings.com/epoxy-putty.html) with another single coat of RustSeal. After that, you can top coat the RustSeal with DiamondFinish White (http://www.kbs-coatings.com/diamondfinish.html) for a UV Stable finish. Here are some good direction that show how to use the KBS 3 Step System in conjunction with the NuMetal Epoxy Putty: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/trunk-and-floorpan-repair-kit-directions.html You can find complete directions for RustSeal application here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/rustseal-directions.html We also have very helpful instructional videos for the application of RustSeal that you can watch online for free here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/instructional-videos.html In addition, we also have a Flow Chart for the application of RustSeal here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/rustseal-flow-chart.html We also have our How-To Section which has two series of common step-by-step procedures for the application of RustSeal found here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/how-to-use-kbs-coatings.html And before you begin your project, it is always a great idea to familiarize yourself with our RustSeal Fix-It Guides found here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/fix-it-guide-rustseal.html DiamondFinish White Directions: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/diamondfinish-info.html Link to comment https://success.kbs-coatings.com/topic/1485-newbie-with-a-horse-trailer/#findComment-2486 Share on other sites Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
