txnorman
i have a new boat trailer and am interested in making sure it does not rust. what would you recommend?
KBS Coatings
Do you have a factory coating on there? If so, the best way would be to get rid of the factory coating by blasting it or wire wheeling it all off. If you sandblast, you will want to apply 2-3 coats of RustSeal and then a UV Stable Top coat such as our BlackTop. If you do not sandblast, you will use the KBS 3 Step System of AquaKlean, RustBlast and RustSeal followed by a UV Stable Top coat such as our BlackTop. You can find complete instructions for RustSeal here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/RustSeal-Information-and-Instructions_ep_38-1.html You can also find Instructional Videos here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/KBS-Videos_ep_90-1.html You can also find a Flow Chart for using the KBS 3 Step System here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/Flow-Chart--RustSeal-on-Steel_ep_87-1.html BlackTop can be found here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/BlackTop-Chassis-Paint_p_35.html
txnorman
Its a brand new trailer with powdercoat paint. I would prefer not to remove the paint. I want to protect it, if possible. Any suggestions?
KBS Coatings
Yes. Clean it with AquaKlean, sand it down, and apply 2-3 coats of RustSeal and then a UV Stable Top coat such as our BlackTop.
txnorman
Can I simply put the blacktop over existing paint rather than repainting with rustseal?
KBS Coatings
Yes. Using RustSeal and then BlackTop would be best, but you can just apply the BlackTop if you choose.
