EcomyVemToott Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 I want to paint over a chrome auto bumper: AquaKlean, RustBlast, then RustSeal followed by the OEM topcoat paint. It is hard for me to believe this will allow proper long-term top coat adhesion of paint to such a slick original surface without any need to bead/sandblast or at least scuff that surface before topcoating. Any opinions or suggestions from someone who's attempted this particular application or one like it would be greatly appreciated. Quote
KBS Coatings Posted February 28, 2013 Report Posted February 28, 2013 Yes, something as slick and hard as chrome would need the extra help of physical abrasion such as sanding (80 grit) or blasting. The KBS Klean and RustBlast afterwards will finish the prepping job. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Quote
