I'm using rust seal and black top on the frame of my truck. I've put two coats of rust seal on and I was wondering if there is anything I can put between the rust seal and the black top to help make it more solid and durable or should I just put another coat of rust seal? What would you recommend?

I've just used rustseal on a fuel tank and won't be able to give it a second coat for a few days,it's now to humid were I live to give it a second coat now. When I give it a second coat will I just have to sand between coats or will I have to use etch primer between coats. I will also be using topcoat for a third coat.

Can RustSeal be used as both a base coat and top coat? Or does it need to be top coated? Will be going on a frame that won't see direct UV rays. Also does it require any special activator, reducer, spray gun, etc...? Thanks

Does anyone have an idea why rust seal would delaminate shortly after application. We have used and sold hundreds of pints, quarts and gallons and never had a problem. All steps to clean, rust blast and seal were followed so not sure what could have happened.

I'm looking to seal the inside of a differential housing that had a hole in it I had to weld up. Theoretically, the weld should be fluid tight, but I'd rather just be certain. Can I use Rust Seal for that? It would be continuous exposure to the diff fluid, obviously.

Hello, I am currently restoring a 1974 Land Rover Series 3 and have a question about RustBlast in combination with RustSeal applied on aluminium. First of all I allready treated the outside of my (steel) fuel tank with KBS Clean, RustBlast, 2 coats of RustSeal and one of coat of BlackTop and it works great, easy to apply and the result is superb. And I will also do the chassis frame, leafsprings and axes (which are all steel) with the KBS system. My Question is about the underside of the body parts of the car which are mostly made of aluminium. All info I've read sofar about painting aluminium body parts of old Land Rovers, say that you first need to apply a se…

Hello, My Dad is getting a new car, and it's likely to be the last car he will have. We need the car to last for a while, and in our climate (snowy winters with road salting, rainy spring and autumns) that means corrosion protection. The car will be a Ford Focus. I assume the underside of the car and the wheel wells will have some kind of factory-applied paint or coating. We would normally take the car to a corrosion protection shop, but their treatment is not cheap and only protects for about 2 years. Would the three-product process finishing with RustSeal work well on the underside of a new car, which presumably has some factory-applied coating already? Whic…

I am currently restoring a very heavy Victorian style screen door that came with the house built in 1954. I was wondering when you say your color for white is off-white, is this true to a pure white color or is it more on the cream beige color white? Our house is white siding and the door frame is white and I don't want to paint any other color. I have the door rust free and did a rough, light sanding over the old paint which is baked on enamel and washed it down with TSP Solvent and rinse. Any other suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

I recently purchased a 93 F150 that has light rust on the frame and well.. everything on the underside. I'm wondering if I can use rustseal without having to dismantle the truck. Idealy, magic gnomes would come to my house and do the work for me, but that won't happen. Instead, I'd like to find a coating solution that would allow me to keep the vehicle intact. Input?

I've already done a section of my car with KBS Klean, RustBlast and RustSeal. There are a few more sections that need to be done near the first, that when applying the KBS Klean and RustBlast will almost certainly get onto the first section. Will those two products harm the 4 day old coats of RustSeal?

I would like to coat the entire body of my old truck with rust seal before i paint it (white or gray). Would one color of rust seal be best for this? I am concerned about sanding smooth and body work before i top coat it. Also, any idea of how much rust seal I may need to spray the inside and outside of of all the body parts?

Firstly great to have a site where us consumers can get good information. I am restoring an old car and have just sanded and wire wheeled the floor pans, and behind the dash where possible. Then put a rust converter over the metal. If I use KBS three step, do I have to completely remove the rust converter to ensure adherence? Do I have to cover up bolt holes to be used for future use, and/or insert bolt to be removed once process complete and if so will it be difficult to get them out. Lastly (for now) if at a later date I need to weld over a part of the surface, can I do so as I realise I will not get the rust seal off?

Bought 4L can of rustseal, not realising it does such a damn good job of coverage J So have 3L left that probably wont get used again for at least a year or so. I know it states to store left over rustseal in a tin or glass bottle, but was wondering whether it would be also OK to store in ( dry) PET bottles? ie plastic coke bottles, as that way can squeeze all excess air out of bottle to maximise the life of remainder hopefully...

Do you have a product that would be suitable for coating the bottom of an aluminum boat to stop small leaks. If so what product would you recommend, how much would be required to coat the bottom of a 16 ft aluminum fishing boat and is the product available in Canada. Cheers, Steve

We are currently doing a tear down and rebuild of several CNC machines at my workplace. Most of the machine parts will be sent out for sandblasting and painting using your RustSeal. Some of the larger pieces will be painted in-house. Our maintenance area where the painting will occur is not the most remote area of the plant and people are working in the near vicinity. What kind of fumes does the RustSeal emit and how intense are they? Do we need any Personal Protection Equipment when working with the prep chemicals or RustSeal? We will be using brushes and rollers to apply the RustSeal. Also, do we need to topcoat the RustSeal or will it be fine by itself?

i had asked a question about rusty brakes on my car on yahoo. it's the hub assembly, and calipers that gets rusty. one person that answered said to try this kbs product that it's able to handle the heat. my question is will it work on the brakes like this person said. he also said that it could be applied directly to the rotors where the brake pad touches. though most rotors sold in the ny area that i'm in is usually rustproof and if not with a few runs the rust comes off of it. just wonder if this product really does that and how high of heat can it handle?

Hi, I have had my chassis cleaned up by a local business. It was Garnet blasted, and also was coated with a clear finish, to keep the thumbprints off. Good for at least 6 months indoors. The finish is an LIC brand made by Valspar. Apparently I am able to weld straight thru it, paint straight over it. What is the best method (once all ancilliary bracketry is welded on) to finish this chassis in KBS gloss black? Thanks. PS it's a big, late 30's Dodge chassis
