RustSeal Used A Base Coat and Top Coat

Featured Replies

Can RustSeal be used as both a base coat and top coat? Or does it need to be top coated? Will be going on a frame that won't see direct UV rays. Also does it require any special activator, reducer, spray gun, etc...? Thanks

If RustSeal is being used on a frame that does not see UV rays, there is no reason to put any paint over the RustSeal. You can leave RustSeal as your finish coat.

RustSeal is a single component coating and does not require an activator.

Spray pressure of 35-45 psi (250-330kpa) for siphon/pot guns and 25-35psi (170-250kpa) for gravity/top container guns. Thinning is not generally required but if needed 5%-10% is normally adequate. Use KBS #1 Thinner only which is a slow evaporating solvent. Generally, a 1.5 tip works well.

Please check out the RustSeal Directions and let us know if you have any additional questions.
