Classicautoresto
Does anyone have an idea why rust seal would delaminate shortly after application. We have used and sold hundreds of pints, quarts and gallons and never had a problem. All steps to clean, rust blast and seal were followed so not sure what could have happened. KBS Coatings
As with most coatings, RustSeal reaches full/maximum adhesion when it is fully cured. It is always best to wait to check adhesion until at least 24 hours after the application of your second coat (or final) of RustSeal. Also, excess humidity can cause adhesion issues. If you have excess humidity, thin the RustSeal 10% with the KBS #1 Thinner. To what are you applying the RustSeal?
Classicautoresto
We applied it to a frame of a gas pump made of metal both tube and angle steel
KBS Coatings
The other suggestion would be to let the RustBlast (full strength) etch (keep wet) etch the surface for longer than the minimum of 30 minutes. It is important to allow the RustBlast enough time to etch the surface creating the ideal surface profile for the adhesion of the RustSeal. Also, be sure to check out the complete directions for RustSeal and the RustSeal Fix-It Guide.
