August 28, 201213 yr comment_2173 Hi, I have had my chassis cleaned up by a local business. It was Garnet blasted, and also was coated with a clear finish, to keep the thumbprints off. Good for at least 6 months indoors. The finish is an LIC brand made by Valspar. Apparently I am able to weld straight thru it, paint straight over it. What is the best method (once all ancilliary bracketry is welded on) to finish this chassis in KBS gloss black? Thanks. PS it's a big, late 30's Dodge chassis Link to comment https://success.kbs-coatings.com/topic/1542-garnet-blasted-hot-rod-chassis/ Share on other sites Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 August 28, 201213 yr comment_2607 It is always best to apply the RustSeal directly to the metal, but it sounds like you want to keep your clear coat on there and go over it. With that in mind, you can pressure wash the frame with AquaKlean, lightly scuff the surface (for good adhesion) and then apply a minimum of (2) coats of RustSeal.
