Sir, Sorry for asking so many questions and do I appreciate all your help. I am in the middle of the first phase of using DiamondFinish to seal/protect the show chrome on my Goldwing and have a question about overlapping cured coats. Several of the larger pieces (which need to have three coats on the top, bottom, and all four sides) will need to have the coats applied using a brush. My plan is to suspend each piece about one inch above my work surface using small painter's cones and apply three coats to the bottom and four sides...then, after each is fully cured, flip and apply three coats to the top. My problem is that the edges are rounded (about a one inch radius) so …

Sir, I will be repainting my 2010 Goldwing using an acrylic urethane by US Paint and am thinking of using DiamondFinish as the clear coat. Is there anything special I need to allow for...such as curing time, before applying the first coat?? Is DiamondFinish safe over metallic acrylic urethane paint?? I was figuring to follow the instructions provided by US Paint for use of their clear coat but wanted to check with you guys first...will be using your clear coat to seal the chrome and thought I might as well just use it for the entire bike if it is safe. -mark

I bought a complete replacement set of chrome rails (luggage, trunk/saddlebag bumper, front fender, etc) for a Goldwing motorcycle to replace ones which began rusting at the welded joints. I want to use this product to seal the microscopic pores/pinholes in the chrome and ask what is the best application method -- spray gun, brush, pad... Also, is there any special prep instructions for applying this product on polished chrome...your published instructions are very general.

The directions (in the FAQ) for this product state that DiamondFinish can be applied over any type of paint as long as it is completely cured. First off, is this completely DRY or completely CURED? I'm going to assume cured (since that's what it says) but I'm hoping that maybe sooner would be ok. My concern is that some base coats ask for clear soon after drying - within like an hour or so. I also understand that this is a different product than most clears. My other concern involves thinning. I want to apply as thin as I can (thinned at 30%) because I get better results this way. I'd rather spend more time applying more coats than try and put it on too heavy and…

I have a pair of brushed aluminum sunglasses I would like to coat with DiamondFinish. The lens of the sunglasses are not removable. I would like to apply 3 coats. What would be the best method of masking the lens to have the least amount of trouble removing the mask. Spray then remove after an hour of flash time then remask for the next coat, or just spray all 3 coats and remove the mask after? Or should I spray the lens too as they are made of a Polycarbonate plastic? Also, after I finish spraying, can I use a green Scotchbrite pad to create a flat finish instead of gloss? Thanks, Dave F.

Hello, I have a set of brake calipers that I have painted using a specialize 2-part caliper paint, wet sanded and applied high-temp vinyl decals. I applied (sprayed) the Diamond Finish Clear but think I may have over done it in some areas by spraying it a little too heavy. I now have some runs and quite a few bubbles that make the surface feel and look like non-skid. The areas that are bubble and run free look GREAT, like a polished Steinway. Anyway, I'd like to know how I can correct the bubbles and runs without destroying the vinyl decals underneath? Thanks in advance for the assistance. Here are the calipers with base coat, prior to wet sand and Diam…

This sounds like it would be great over epoxy coated wood on boats (Like the gunwales) if it will stick to epoxy. The spar varnish yellows and flakes after only 2 or 3 years and has to be sanded down and re-finished.

I am looking into my options for coating my bare dune buggy frame so I can stop worrying about rust. I like the idea of a clear coat so I easily see cracks in the frame and it wont look terrible if I need to grind off the top coat in order to weld. Would this work well for my application? Is it durable enough to hold up to being hit by rocks and sand blasted in the dunes? Thanks for the help.

I am trying out Diamond Clear finish for clearcoating custom pool cues and I am brushing it on and slowly rotating it in a small booth to cure. The first coat, on bare wood, took about 7 hours to dry to the touch. I then re-coated it and 7 hours later it's still sticky. Up here in New England it's only about 18% humidity right now. I heat the booth to about 75 degrees constant. Is this normal in low humidity conditions? What can I do to speed this up? Thanks

I used the DiamondFinish Clear on a wooden pinball cabinet I am restoring. I brushed the clear on but wound up with some runs and sags. What are your recommendations to take care of this so I can get a smooth as glass finish? I'm sure I will need to wet sand the runs out. How long do I have to wait from the time of the last coat to do that?

Hello, I recently painted my wifes motorcycle with Testors Acrylic (Metallic) http://www.testors.com/products/137192 She liked the color.. I didn't think there would be a problem with DF.. Although I usually use 2 part stuff I thought I would give this a go. I decided to brush on, unthinned, but it looked like it was having trouble sticking to the paint, like it was repelling it. The end result was so bad I had to sand it all off and repaint. I repainted and redid with 2k product in the end. But I would like to know if you know of this issue, or if there is a cure? The tank is the same color and the gas has got underneath it at the cap and I'm thinking this would mak…

I have read that with most clears you must wait a couple of months before waxing to allow the product to completely cure. How long must I wait with Diamond Finish? Thanks, fridgy

The tiles are bonded to a plywood base with an outdoor application ceramic tile adhesive. Can I seal this with Diamond Finish Clear Coat, and if so, what would be the quantity needed to cover 15 sf at a thickness of 1/4 inch?

I am looking for clear coat for RC airplanes that can resist the methanol, castor oil, and nitromethane that our fuel is made from along with the heat and combustion by products of the exhaust. From what I see this will work great in that application and the fact that it's brushable is a huge plus. Household latex is a popular color coat because it's light, inexpensive, and has limitless choices in color but needs a top coat. Can the Diamond finish be applied over fully cured latex paint without the solvents attacking it?

Hi KBS; this is an excellent forum to explain use of KBS products. I'm planning on clearcoating a waterborne basecoat with DiamondFinish, and wondering if isocyanates will be released if the coating is applied with a roller or brush, rather than by spraying? Also, is there a maximum window past which the DiamondFinish will be too hard to cut and buff? Many thanks, Don
