KarenYork
I finished an outdoor patio table top with glass tiles. I want to seal the top with a clear product that will not yellow with outdoor use. The tiles are bonded to a plywood base with an outdoor application ceramic tile adhesive. Can I seal this with Diamond Finish Clear Coat, and if so, what would be the quantity needed to cover 15 sf at a thickness of 1/4 inch? KBS Coatings
Yes, this is an ideal surface for DiamondFinish Clear. To get a coating that is 250 mils thick (1/4 inch), you would need 125 coats at 2 mils per coat. This is not a clear coat that can be poured on and usually 7-10 mils is more than enough for a table top surface. Are you willing to do 125 coats? If you are looking for the suggested 7-10 mils for your type of application, (2) quarts would be enough. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. KarenYork
I am going to try finishing the project as you suggest at a coverage of 7-10 mils. I will let you know how it turns out.
