I sprayed Motor Coat to paint my 1948 Chevy truck. It has been a week and a half, do I need to scuff the Motor Coat prior to using Diamond Clear? If so, can I use a fine scuff pad or do I need to wet sand? I also used DupiColor acrylic to paint the grill, do I need to scuff it before using Diamond Clear?

Hi I 3d print articulated dolls with resin. It was suggested to use a 1k varnish in the joint areas where there is the most movement. Can Diamond clear be used for that? This one was specifically suggested to me. I prefer something that can brushed on rather than a spray. I plan to brush it on the joints and then top with a matte varnish.

I was considering doing Diamond Finish over my existing laminate countertops. I have several questions (sorry!): -- Is the coat glossy? I would like to have a shine to my dull countertops. -- I was wondering if it would adhere to laminate and how it would hold up to normal kitchen activities. Is it tough? -- How hard is the surface? Is it resistant to scratches? Can you actually cut on it? -- I read that it is resistant to heat. Does that mean you could take something out of the oven and place it on the counter? -- How do you recommend cleaning it after it is applied? -- How many coats should I use for countertops? How much product would I need to purchase to cover 53 squ…

Greetings! I'm excited to try Diamond Clear to restore a small RV that came factory with a lemon yellow gelocoat. After 15 years of washing and waxing, the chalking and fading became severe enough to warrant sanding to find fresh gelcoat. This depth of restoration cannot be repeated frequently, so I'm looking at Diamond Clear to freeze-in-time the color depth for the foreseeable future. Wax has been a major disappointment considering the labor involved. Before sanding, I used KBS Kleen 1:10 to strip any dirt, oils, and waxes using a scotchbrite pad, and this really helped to keep the sanding disc from clogging. Good stuff! I have two concerns: ○ High quali…

I am currently trying to make coasters with ceramic tiles. I decoupage an image with Mod Podge to the tile and then topped it with a 2 part Epoxy, even after 3 months of curing hot coffee mugs will stick to and dent the surface. Ran across this product last night, and it sounds great. Would this product work good for a hot coffee mug to sit on it? Can I use this as a top coat over the Epoxy (Envirotex Lite). Or better yet, would this be able to replace the epoxy altogether? So could I go directly over the Mod Podge with it? Also, is it safe to use for coasters toxin wise? Also, would I be sanding the surface to prep or would I need that KBS Kleen? Thanks

Hi, Can I use KBS Diamond Finish ClearCoat for adding a protective heat proof layer to an epoxy resin finished table? I am trying to prevent damage to the resin if things like hot coffee mugs, ornaments are placed on it. Should I be polishing the clear coat after applying or polishing the resin? Many thanks for the help

Hello, I make one of a kind epoxy tables. I also do countertops. Is there any feed back on applying Clear Diamond Finish over epoxy before I start my testing. I have tried many top coats. I am not happy with any of them. I'm excited and hopeful this is the ticket.

Hello! I’ve been using KBS diamond for some projects here, and I’ve waited 96H & a week after my last coat (4-5 coats, thinned, brushed, roughly 500um ~ thickness)… both times moisture leeched in (I put a lil’ food colouring in the water so I can check if moisture gets in visually) I kept the objects at 50-65 humidity for the first two days, and elevated it to 70-80% for the rest of the week. I’m wondering if this is insufficient cure time before moisture exposure? Thanks for your time!

Hello , I am involved in a project restoring a Carousel made in the 1990's. It was painted about three years ago and lived outside and the the Diamond Gloss still looks like new. Condition of underlying paint is perfect. We do want to repaint the horses though. The plan is to prime and repaint with a water based acrylic to modify the colors. Then to clear coat again with Diamond . The material of the carousel horses under the paint is aluminum. I realize this is a hard Cured Urethane surface. We would of course scuff and de grease. We would want primer to be compatible with artist mural acrylics such as Nova color. What are our primer option…

Any suggestions on how we can prepare the surface before we apply DiamondFinish Clear to outside exhibits that have deteriorated from UV exposure? In order to remove the damaged clear coat, we will likely employ dry ice blasting, but given how uneven the surface is, I'm not sure how feasible it will be to give all areas a light sanding before applying DiamondFinish. I'm concerned about how well DiamondFinish will bond to the old remaining finish. These structures are made out of foam, coated with a tough polyurethane, then painted with a variety of colors. Our goal is to preserve the paint after the dry ice blasting and applying your product to permanently protect the sur…

Diamond clear suggests recoating within 24 hours. In the event the weather quickly changes to rain and high humidity after the first coat, what option is there for a second coat after 2 or 3 days of rain. I am coating fishing hardbaits.

Hey, so I'm making rings out of wood and various other materials and I'm using a jewelry grade epoxy to seal them and then trying to use Diamond Finish aerosol for a top coat. I have been doing about 3 coats, very thin, and letting each cure for an hour + between coats until it's dry to the touch. I've then let them sit for 48+ hours but the finish is still kind of soft and gummy. The first one I made has been done for 2 weeks and it's still soft. Any ideas?

I would like to use DiamondFinish Clear to fill in small (<pencil eraser) rock chips that have have gone down to bare metal. The chips are starting to rust. The frame has a nice clear coated light green metallic automotive paint job that would be difficult to touch up with touch up paint imo. My plan is to coat only the bare metal chipped areas with a small applicator brush and try to avoid the surrounding painted surfaces. Any tips or advice on how to accomplish this? Thanks, Aaron

Hello, I have fiberglass bodywork that I am currently about to cover with blacktop, let it cure, then cover with diamond 1K. I am wondering what, if any, sanding recommendation there is for the blacktop. My instinct is to give it a 600 grit wet sand before applying the clear coat, but I have never worked with KBS products before. I am also wondering how many coats of blacktop and clearcoat are recommended, I was planning to do 2 coats of each by brush. Thank you.

Hi, I've just used your product on my tile coasters (which I love!) - 2 thin coats over modge podge and polyurethane varnish - these were allowed to dry for at least a few days before applying Diamond Finish. I let them cure for 2 weeks before testing with a hot drink. But, sadly my cup of tea has left an indentation on the coaster. Would curing them in the Sun, adding extra coats or increasing curing time make them better resistant to heat? This was a cup of green tea (basically hot water) straight from the kettle. Any info would be appreciated as I have already made quite alot of them and I'm worried they will get wrecked with heat.

Love the Diamond Coat finish ..... are you working on same type of product but with matt finish? If so, would be a HUGE success with refinishing, finishing and or protecting antiquing techniques on "recycled" furniture .... wood pieces. ;o) us "Shabby Chics" would go crazy over it ;o)

I’m trying to spray DF and I’m using the recommended air pressure and top size, and I thinned about 15%, but I’m not getting a uniform film. It does not seem to atomizer small enough and looks like it lays on like tiny globes that almost give a fine sand like texture. This is not flowing out and self leveling like the literature says it will. I’m sorry if this is a rookie question, but what am I doing wrong.

Can you tint or add powdered pigment to Diamond Finish Clear? I have some various project where i'd like to add either white pigment, or Hemway's pearlescent color shift powders to my first 2 coats before adding regular Diamond Finish Clear as my top coat. Are there specific brands you suggest or is it not advised at all? Thanks!

Any idea or anyone ever attempt? Want to mix diamond clear and glow in dark powder apply to my lures then clear powder coat over the kbs and glow....seems the powder paint takes abuse better then diamond clear(not complaining it's great stuff) ...plus the mix of glow powder and diamond clear stays clear....if glow powder is added to the clear powder coat it will turn white because the powder is white....we are trying to stay translucent with the glow....so basically can diamond clear stand the 350-400 degrees?
