Jeff1384824221 Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 Hello, I recently painted my wifes motorcycle with Testors Acrylic (Metallic) http://www.testors.com/products/137192 She liked the color.. I didn't think there would be a problem with DF.. Although I usually use 2 part stuff I thought I would give this a go. I decided to brush on, unthinned, but it looked like it was having trouble sticking to the paint, like it was repelling it. The end result was so bad I had to sand it all off and repaint. I repainted and redid with 2k product in the end. But I would like to know if you know of this issue, or if there is a cure? The tank is the same color and the gas has got underneath it at the cap and I'm thinking this would make a better seal at the cap.. if only I could get it to lay flat. Thanks for any help. Jeff Quote
KBS Coatings Posted August 26, 2013 Report Posted August 26, 2013 How long had the acrylic paint cured? Also, how did you prep the acrylic painted surface? Please let us know and we will help you out. Quote
Jeff1384824221 Posted August 26, 2013 Author Report Posted August 26, 2013 It had been cured for at least a week, but I didn't do anything to the paint afterwards. Thanks. Quote
KBS Coatings Posted August 27, 2013 Report Posted August 27, 2013 OK. Thanks. Wipe down the cured acrylic paint with KBS Klean. Then apply the DiamondFinish Clear in thin covering coats according to the directions. Please let us know if you have additional questions. Quote
Jeff1384824221 Posted August 27, 2013 Author Report Posted August 27, 2013 Just one... Will I need to scuff the the surface first.. or will the KBS Klean be sufficient? Thanks Quote
KBS Coatings Posted August 27, 2013 Report Posted August 27, 2013 You should not have to scuff the surface. Just cleaning the fully cured surface with KBS Klean should be perfect. Quote
