  1. The KBS Tank Sealer System will stop rust and form a tough, fuel impervious coating while sealing small pinholes and weld seams. Whatever your tank holds will never touch the inside walls of your tank again. The KBS Tank Sealer System contains enough KBS Klean, RustBlast, and KBS Tank Sealer to prep and permanently seal your tank.

We have a mustang that we race with BP116 race fuel. I have welded on a sump to the tank to accept some AN fittings. Now looking into the tank I can see the welds are starting to rust and we can't risk having that crud go through the lines . The filters are doing a great job so far but we don't want to chance it. It seems that most coatings on the market can't be used with race fuels. What is the general consensus as to what fuels can be used with this? Any good/bad experiences? thanks...New to the site. 3. I have a 6" oil bath metal bowl that holds 1-1/4" oil +/-. after blasting the bowl I was able to see 15+ pin holes. Is there a epoxy glue to seal holes and a sloshing sealer for coating the bottom of the bowl? Bowl holds 30 wt. SAE motor oil.

I was patient and followed every instruction for the cleaner, rust remover, and sealer. Pictured is what the outcome was for the tank sealer. It's almost like it cured too fast to evenly coat the entire tank. I sat for 30 minutes slowly rotating the tank and let what excess I could drain out then continued rotating the tank. It seems to harden up right after draining the excess. One side looks very runny and has signs of small bubbling. The other side only has a thin coat of sealant. Process was done at the correct temperatures and done step by step very carefully and patiently. By the looks of the pictures is this cause to have to strip and attempt to re-seal the tank? V…

  5. I did all three product steps as instructed. I notice two lip holes leaking Gold Standard while sealing. Can I add a second coat after the fist coat cures? Nothing has go into the tank after the first seal process. Do I need to worry about those pin holes?

Hi all - I have fabricated a plain steel sheet metal gas tank and applied the Gold Standard kit with no problems. Now however I find that I must modify the existing tank by cutting and welding it to a new smaller shape. Should I use the stripper on the recently (8 months ago) applied Gold Standard coating and then reseal the tank again after modifying it, or just reseal it. I am wondering if the stripper compound will work on Gold Standard seal itself? Any advice or help would be appreciated. - Dave

Hi I am in the process of using one of your tank sealer kits. I have used the KBS strip to remove the old poor quality liner. I am trying to use the KBS clean now before I use the rust blast. The problem I have is sealing the tank up to wash the solution round. I 2 holes to seal up on the bottom 1 is for the fuel tap, the other for the fuel sender. I have tried ducktape, but it leaks what else can I use?

  9. Hi! I will soon be sealing a few of my motorcycle fuel tanks with KBS Gold fuel tank sealer and am wondering about the flexibility of your tank sealer. What happens when the fuel tank is accidentally dented (minor dent)? Does KBS follow the dent contour and stay as is (tank sealed) or does it crack, etc where the dent occurred? Thank you

  10. Hi! What is the shelf life of KBS gold fuel tank sealer? I ask this because I have more than 1 motorcycle fuel tank to seal ... but will not do all of these at once. I am tempted to purchase a larger container than needed for 1 fuel tank ... but need to know the shelf life of the product. Thank you

  11. Hi KBS, I have read in other posts that I can apply your products to an aluminium tank that cannot be removed by using a paintbrush (after cutting an access hole). Unfortunately non of your instructions covers using this method, and I am afraid that if I overwork the product etc I may make a mess of it. Could you please provide a concise set of instructions for application using a paintbrush on an un-removable tank? I am sure that many boat owners will find this quite helpful. Thank you in advance. I have a leak in my boat fuel tank and the tank (30 gal) is below deck and can't be removed. I plan on cutting a hole in the boat deck at about the center of the fuel tank and then cut a hole in the top of the tank. Can I apply the Gold Standard tank sealer with a brush as I can't figure any other way to do this job? After the job is done I will put a aluminum plate on the tank and a round deck hatch on the fiberglass deck. If this works out it would save about $3000. to have the boat cut open and a new tank installed. Do you think this will fix my problem?

How long do i have to wait for the sealer to cure, before putting it back into use on the bike ( the tank )?

  15. Started by 75Camaro,

i purchased your tank resealing package. in the directions it says that it needs to stay at a temp. of 55 or above. i am having a hard time finding a shop to do this in the winter thats heated. does it affect the product if i do it in 40 degree temp. range? lets say i do, and something goes wrong, can i try resealing it again or does it compromise the tank? i dont want to ruin my tank since i cant find a replacement.

I have diesel tank in boat that just began leakage. It's either seal or replace. I can't "roll" tank. We are cutting inspection ports for access between baffles. Tank is 500 gallons. What process (spraying, washing, drying coatings) to use?

Hi, I have an epoxy tank that is already coated with Gold Seal. I had to drill holes in it to install fuel level sensor. Now I want to re-coat the old coating and fill the missing parts . The tank(15gal) has slosh barriers inside and only small access holes(1/2") so stripping and scraping off the old Gold Seal is not an option. The big question is: how can I prepare/prime the old Gold Seal coating so tthat he new coat will stick? Greebo

  19. hello, i wanted to use tank sealer on a '66 honda ca95 motorcycle gas tank. these tanks have 2 nozzles on the bottom of the tank that conncet from one to the other with rubber "fuel balance" tube. obviously the rubber tube would be removed, but do have to worry about the tank sealer clogging up the nozzles? if so, how do you recommend preventing a clog?

  20. Started by ruprik,

Finished up the process today but my tank was very difficult to get the sealer out of - the fill tube sticks into the tank about 2 inches and the outflow isn't at a low point (go figure...). So, I went to Tap Plastics and purchased 6' of 1/2 acrylic tubing for a couple of bucks, cut it in half, put the tank on it's corner for about 10 minutes, and sucked the stuff out in about 6 rounds. Of course you have to be careful not to let it get near your mouth - it'd probably put hair on your chest if you did, though. Was able to get 95% of the excess out this way and then rotated the tank around for the next few hours to spread the little that was left around. If you als…

I coated my 60s fiberglass motorcycle tank after the seams failed. It didn't seal the higher back edge (gravity?) and leaked gas in one spot. Can I do a recoat over the KBS? Do I need a whole new kit?

  22. I am attempting to coat an antique boat tank 3" long X 81/2" dia. with a large cycle kit. Is one pint of tank sealer enough for a good coating?

  23. Started by Droe,

I'm working on sealing a motorcycle tank, but the ambient temperatures are a bit above the recommended 55-82F. They tend to be between 85 and 95F during the times I can work in the garage. Is that too warm? What are the risks that I may run if I go ahead and apply the tank sealer? I did the RustBlast yesterday, so I consider the clock to be ticking. I want to get this done before taking the tank to the paint shop to get the outside re-painted.

I followed the 3 step system per instructions but its hard on my tank to get every last drop of excess gold seal out, i tried rolling the tank more so it wouldnt "puddle" but there was still some left in there, will this hurt or defect the sealer?

Hi, I have a fibreglass motorcycle tank that I aquacleaned and then treated with tank sealer. It started to leak again and the sealer has crinkled up and can just be peeled off. I now realise that I should of rustblasted first, but would this account for the sealer crinkling up - it looks like it has reacted with the fuel? how do I clean out the sealer without damaging the fibreglass tank? thanks Mike

  30. I followed the 3 step system for my fuel tank meticulously over the past few days. The tank seemed to be etched well and was a powder white color thoughout. I followed every step to a "T" and made sure it was absolutely dry between steps. This morning put the Gold Standard tank sealer in and slowly rolled the tank around for about an hour and drained it. Since there are many baffles in the 20 gallon tank I continued to roll it slowly for the next 3 hours. Just pulled the caps off the pick-up and sending unit holes and found quite a large pool still in the tank. I drained this out and got about half a quart out!? I didn't expect to get much at all since the kit is designed…

Hi, I've almost finished making a mild steel 200Lt (44gal) diesel tank with baffles - the top panel has not been welded on. I'm thinking of sealing it using your tank sealer. as its a clean new tank will I have to use the cleaner and rust blast? Are other primers or etch primers suitable? I was thinking of brushing the sealer on most of the internal surfaces and the baffles leaving room for a hot zone before welding the top on and then doing the top by rolling it around. What do you think?

Hi, this is the 2nd tank I have sealed using your product, 1st one great, as time was not an issue with this tank, each stage was carried out to the letter, the tank has now been painted & yesterday was filled with gas, this morning there is a tiny bubble at the bottom rear of the tank, about the size of a pin head, I fear this is the start of a leak, what can I do as the tank is finished with base coat & 2 pack clear? Roy.

  34. We are very interested in your product and have a quick question for you. We are wanting to use your tank sealer to seal the inside of small water heater tanks to inhibit any rust. The tanks will not be used to heat water but will be used as a charge tank to fill solar water heating loops with distilled water and a 40-60% food grade propylene glycol solution. Before filling the system we will use the charge tank to flush the solar loop with a 2% trisodium phosphate solution (TSP found at Lowe’s for cleaning bricks etc.). Our question is will your tank sealer work with the above mentioned solutions of: propylene glycol and trisodium phosphate? The tanks would be use…

I really hate to say this but I am having problems with the coating in my motorcycle tank. Im really bummed out. I thought I did it perfect. I had the motorcycle tank perfectly clean with the aqua clean and the rust blast. Then I took a hair dryer and actually let it blow through the fill hole and vent out the hole where the pet cock mounts for over 3 hours. The tank was BONE DRY. I used a very bright flashlight to verify no water. I let it cure for over a week. Actually more like 10 days. I filled the tank and rode it for a week. I thought everything was great until I went to fill up today. My stomach sank. There are huge blisters at the bottom of the tank. I thought it …
