  1. The KBS Tank Sealer System will stop rust and form a tough, fuel impervious coating while sealing small pinholes and weld seams. Whatever your tank holds will never touch the inside walls of your tank again. The KBS Tank Sealer System contains enough KBS Klean, RustBlast, and KBS Tank Sealer to prep and permanently seal your tank.

Per your website, I ordered a 1 gallon kit to coat an 80 gallon air compressor tank. I used all of the KBS Klean as well as almost the entire gallon of KBS Rust Blast. However when I sealed the tank I drained out almost the entire gallon of KBS Gold Standard Tank Sealer. Perhaps a pint stayed inside the tank. Is this normal procedure and if so why is so much recommended. Thank you

Can your Tank Sealer be brushed on? We have a small locomotive tender (about 100 gallons) that was built 30ish years ago and originally had some sort of hardening tar type stuff coating the inside. That substance did not stick very well so we have removed the tender top and are in the process of stripping the tar stuff and the inside of the tender will get media blasted. Since the tender weights about 750 lbs or so it's not like we can put a few gallons of sealer in it and spin it all around. So, can your Tank Sealer be brushed on or is there an alternative?

How to remove tank sealer from spots where it's not wanted

  4. Hello there, I have two 100 gallon aluminum gas tanks removed from my boat. There are no access holes to brush your product onto the baffle walls however I'm fairly certain I can coat entire bottom, top and sides but not certain I can get the two baffles covered. Will I run the risk of of your product lifting if I cannot fully coat the baffles? If so any ideas or tips to get 100% coverage? Thanks!

On a motorcycle tank, after stripping and cleaning the inside, after I apply the sealer and allow it to cure for 96 hours, can it be sealed AGAIN to be sure it is completely sealed...???

  6. I just finished, sealing my gas tank, with the 'Cycle Tank Sealer', on my 2007 Honda Shadow Spirit VT750DC Seems to be a great product by the way. 2 Thumbs ! There seems, to be a bit, that has gotten on the male threaded nipple for the petcock connection. I don't want to buy an entire, quart, for this one location, is there an alternative, to cleaning off these threads ? Maybe a wire brush disc? Gently use a Tap & Die kit, on the nipple? Does anyone, know what size or type of threads, these might be ? Suggestions :) Thanks !

I am restoring my '52 Willys M38A1's fuel tank. I have let the tank soak in white vinegar for 4 days, then neutralized it and washed with a power washer. Then completely dried it. I then removed any loose debris with a vacuum. Once I received my KBS tank sealer kit, I immediately added the KBS Klean with 1:1 hot water. After 8 hour soak, washed it thoroughly and added Rust Blast. I allowed that to soak for 1 hour. Then washed and thoroughly dried overnight. Question is: Are the pictures I've uploaded here good enough cleaning to add the sealer to the tank? Or should I run another Rust Blast cycle through it? Thanks for the help. …

  8. I lined the fuel tank on a Yamaha twin with the KBS tank sealing kit a while back taking special care to adhere to the liner kit instructions. About every week or week and a half of light use, the bike will begin to have idle issues, and upon inspecting the carburetors, the pilot jets will be found clogged. The petcocks, fuel lines, inline fuel filters, and air filters are all brand new, as are the carburetors themselves. I thought it might be an issue with fuel, so I drained the tank and refilled from a different station. A week later, I experienced the same result. Is this a known or possible side effect of the tank sealant kit?

Hi there I just sealed my fuel tank and drained for as long as possible but still got some pooling in tank dose it need to be stripped and done again or will it be ok ?? it’s for diesel fuel.

  10. When treating a large steel diesel tank, such as in a boat, all the rust is at the bottom when water will lie. It is impossible to treat the interior of such a tank with 100% confidence of no gaps, when working through an access hole. What surface preparation will maximise adhesion between a partial coat of tank-sealer and diesel? Will sand-blasting, and/or using salt-water (to create a fine layer of fresh rust for good grip) help?

Can Gold Liner be thinned to increase flow with Xylene and how much can safely be added?

  12. Started by spotmaxdog,

I have followed the directions that came with the kit and have a beautiful coated fuel tank. Problem is I need to move my motorcycle soon under its own power. What is the minimum amount of time the product needs to cure before I can put gas in the tank? I'm currently at 36 hours and the finish feels rock hard.

  13. Started by Billy,

After following the 3 step procedure for the tank sealer, which looked great, I was sanding and painting outside of the tank. Some water got into the tank during the process. I'm now seeing some small rust spots appearing inside the tank. Should I be worried, or do some sort of cleaning to see if this is an issue?

  14. Started by AndyThree,

I know it is recommended to use an agitator when cleaning a gas tank to help break up rust. My question is, with the 3 step process, i.e. aqua klean and the rust remover, is it a problem to use zinc coated steel BBs as the agitator? Will this cause some sort of bad chemical reaction or mess with the BBs and leave residue in the tank? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, just wanna ask if you tank sealer is applicable for diesel tank in my European version of Jeep Commander with Mercedes-Benz 3.0 liter diesel engine. I am just worried about additives and diesel coming with contact with your coating. Also just wanna ask if you have dealer somewhere in Europe. Thanks for your reply.

  16. Hi, What solvent could I use to re-liquify the tank sealant, in case I needed to seal a pin hole or some other reason

  17. I need to reseal a tank, the first time I used a brittle product named kreem. It worked ok until I dropped the tank and the liner basically shattered. suggestions?

Hi There, we currently laser cut and weld our own fuel / hydraulic tanks from 250 grade mild steel. We have been looking for a product which could speed up the manufacture of these. i have a few questions about your tank sealer product: I see on another post, a user asked what the life expectancy is of the tank sealer. The answer was 10 years at least. What effects could we expect outside of the sealer life expectancy? We powdercoat our tanks after leak tests, i read on another post that it is recommended to use the tank sealer after powdercoating as the heat in the baking process may be a bit much. Could the tank cleaner and and rust preventer damag…

  21. I will be sealing the split tank for my 95 Harley Fatboy. There are multiple small openings on each tank (vapor, fuel transfer hose between the two, etc). How do I prevent these opening from being sealed closed when lining the tanks?

  22. Video shows old style tank, but what about newer style tanks with fuel pump inside tank and larger openings. I assume I remove all parts from inside the tank before the 3 steps KBS Kleen, RustBlast, and Tank sealer, correct. Suggestions for plugging such large openings? Regarding pipe cleaners for plugging small openings Do you mean that the tank sealer is so viscous or thick or has such surface tension or some other property that the pipe cleaners block the tank sealer from adhering to the inside of tubing which is sealed by inserting pipe cleansers long ways into the tubing, using as many as it takes to fill the opening on the inside or the tank prior to…

I have 2 175gal diesel tanks, one of which leaks. I can not remove these tanks from the boat, so I can not rotate them. Please advise as to which product and how to apply. I anticipate cuttiig access holes, repairing any large holes and then coating in place from the inside. Thanks

Is it safe to use gas tank Carburetor cleaner products in a tank treated with KBS sealer? products like STP Fuel Additive and Cleaner or gumout carb cleaner that gets added to the gas

  26. Started by Alex,

Its probably been answered in some form but I am still concerned. I have petcock screws and fuel sensor screws that run into the tank. I am afraid if I coat the female threads with a wax that while mixing the seal around in the tank it will pick up some of the wax and interfere with adhesion not only on the threads but possibly affect the overall application. I thought about buying short screws and threading them into the holes and moving the sealer about in the tank but I may not be able to remove the screws once cured. Since my final step from everything I have seen and read will be turning the tank belly side up to let the excess sealer drain out I figured I could…

I have 2 2.5 gallon motorcycle fuel tanks that I'm going to seal with Gold Standard Tank Sealer. I purchased the Cycle Tank Sealer Kit. I have one 8oz can of Tank Sealer. Will this be enough for my two tanks or should I purchase more of the Tank Sealer?

  31. Started by Guest,

I have an aluminum diesel fuel tank that I want to seal. I see that you have a three step process for this. I get using the Klean and sealer but with an aluminum tank do I need to use the Rust Blast since their isn't any rust. If I still use this can you tell me how long I need to leave it in the tank?

  32. Started by Guest,

Will your Gold Standard Tank Sealer hold up to ethanol? I've had issues with other products failing and I want to make sure this will work.

  33. The gas tank for my 260Z has a steel vent tube that protrudes about 8 inches into the gas tank. There is also a gasoline return tube that goes diagonally through the tank, top to bottom and front to back. There is also a vertical baffle. For the cleaner and rust blast applications, I combined slow rotation with vigorous shaking to try and hit all surfaces. If I do this with the sealer, it would cause bubbles and likely be a disaster. So, how to I: coat the outside of these tubes? coat the inside of the tubes? coat the baffle? and not ruin the coating on the top, bottom, and sides while trying to get complete coverage?

  34. I have a cycle tank where the fuel level sending unit and the pick up tube are part of removeable pieces. this pieces fit in throw every precise fit. I want to use the old ones as "plugs/models" and coat them with natural carnauba wax or a model release agent.

  38. Started by Guest,

I have a brand new fiberglass tank that I want to seal. I see that you recommend using klean and rust blast. I really don't think I need this because it's brand new and the fiberglass looks like it has a great surface for the sealer to adhere to. Would the sealer adhere good to this tank without klean and rustblast?

  39. Started by Guest,

I used your Gold Standard Tank Sealer and it looks great. Except for one area where I didn’t get all the extra tank sealer drained out and it puddled up. It’s been 24 hrs so it is already hard. What do you recommend?

I bought a new gas tank. It's dry and clean, came that way. Do I need the 3 part system or can I buy just the sealer?

My tank is leaking from the front ear when bolted to frame, seems to be pulling in ear and causing weld seam to open up and leak. I read this coating is flexible...after coating it would I be able to bolt that ear to the frame without leaking or will the pulling in that is opening some leak still leak?

I want to seal a weeping 50 gal diesel fuel tank in my sailboat. Can I just paint/roll this on the entire inside? The tank can not be turned to spread the sealer so it must be sealed in place.

I have a 500 gallon diesel fuel tank with a pin hole (<1/64 diameter) and some mild surface rust in the bottom 4" of the tank. Can I slosh the bottom third of the tank successfully? Or do I have to slosh the entire tank?

  45. Started by MANRAD,

We recently started using your products and have been very happy with their performance. I have a quick question. We quite often get Harley cycle fuel tanks that have a factory grey sealer installed. Most of these tanks have an issue with the OE sealer flaking off over time. I've not been able to find a product that will remove the OE sealer. Do you have any experience/info on installing Gold Seal over this type of sealer?

  46. Started by MANRAD,

We get many Harley fuel tanks that have an original "grey" sealer inside. We often get tanks where some of the sealer flakes off. We've not been able to find a product that will completely remove the original sealer. Will the Gold Standard Fuel Tank Sealer bond to the original Harley sealer?

Can I use your tank sealer in my BMW K100 Cycle over a Kreem sealer without removing it (the Kreem)?

  48. Is the Tank Sealer resistant to biodiesel? Can I use biodiesel in my tank that has been sealed with KBS Tank Sealer?

  49. The inside of my tank still looks a bit rusty after cleaning and rustblast. I kept the inside of the tank wet with the rustblast for about an hour, turning and shaking it every 5 minutes or so. Drained it out and washed out the tank and dried it well with a heat gun. Examining what I can see of the inside of the tank I can still see areas that look a bit red with rust. Its not a lot but more than a little. The photo shows a bit of it, there are similar but larger areas inside the tank. Is this OK. Do I just proceed with the sealer or should I re-use the rust blast again or get some more? thanks.

  50. Will this product work for 50% Methanol, 50% water mix in an aluminum tank? I am starting to see a little oxidation and have read methanol reacts with aluminum
