Is this ready for tank sealer?

Featured Replies

I am restoring my '52 Willys M38A1's fuel tank.  I have let the tank soak in white vinegar for 4 days, then neutralized it and washed with a power washer.  Then completely dried it.  I then removed any loose debris with a vacuum.

Once I received my KBS tank sealer kit, I immediately added the KBS Klean with 1:1 hot water.  After 8 hour soak, washed it thoroughly and added Rust Blast.  I allowed that to soak for 1 hour.  Then washed and thoroughly dried overnight.

Question is: Are the pictures I've uploaded here good enough cleaning to add the sealer to the tank? Or should I run another Rust Blast cycle through it?

Thanks for the help.

Some of the rust looks like it may be loose on the inside of the tank. Did you put a chain in the tank while doing the KBS Klean step? Shaking the tank violently with the KBS Klean solution in the tank?

We are looking forward to hearing back from you.

I didn't use a chain, but had a number of large lag screws and other smaller screws.  I did shake aggressively multiple times.  I'm going to try to knock off the loose stuff again.

Please do that. Other than the loose rust areas, the tank looks really good and ready for the Tank Sealer Step.
