Completely restored the engine compartment on my '69 Camaro using Motor Coater on the block (and XTC on the exhaust manifolds (both products brushed on). Greatly exceeded my expectations. Would highly reccomend both products!

Hi, I applied black motor coater from a pint can on a clean stripped block. And I'm having issues with curing. Some thick spots seem to be still not dried yet, and when I try to heat up the block to test for temperature resistance it gets tacky and when you touch it it leaves a mark. Then when. It cools off it hardens again. Is that supposed to happen? Or is there a breaking process for this paint to fully cure?

Does the convenience of aerosol Motor Coater come with a penalty in durability or chemical resistance? I'll use a gun if that paint is superior, or an aerosol if equivalent. I just want the best result I can get.

Hello, I would like to try Motor Coater on top of my existing engine paint. It is a clean, low mileage engine that the current paint seems to be adhered to very well. I am thinking I can clean the engine, scuff it with a scotch brite pad (unsure of which color pad) then clean again prior to top coating with Motor Coater. Do you see any issues with this process? Of course I realize that your product will only adhere if the base product does as well. I really don't want to have to strip my engine to bare metal if I can avoid it. Thank you, Mike

I need to paint my engine and I'm going to use your Motor Coater. I noticed you have a high temperature XTC Primer. Would this be beneficial to use on my engine before I paint the Motor Coater on? It seems like it would give it better protection.

Hi there and thanks for your help and products (also ultra fast shipping)! My question is which directions are correct. On the actual pint can of Motor Coater paint it says to apply the second coat after the first coat has dried to the point of being non-tacky. Typically (it says) this will occur within 2-4 hours depending on humidity etc etc. However the "paper" instructions says to apply within 30 mins ( would still be very tacky) or wait 7 days. Which one is correct? Thanks again!

I couldn't find any information, but also didn't want to assume… I've used Engine paints in the past that don't full cure until they are heated by the heat of a running engine. I wish to use Motor Coater as a top coat for a cast iron base because of the pigment choices available. Knowing this base will never get engine temp hot, will the paint still cure properly if used as a top coat?

Hi, I have some engine ancillaries, and a set of brake drums that need to have a semi-gloss (50-60%) black finish, and I wanted to know if I could use Motor Coater Gloss Black engine enamel and add a suitable acrylic-enamel gloss reducing additive (Sometimes referred to as matting paste.) to achieve the desired finish? Also, as Motor Coater is described as an acrylic-enamel, would it be compatible with normal acrylic-enamel hardeners to increase the durability? Thanks for your assistance! Steampunk
