Guest Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 I know Rust Seal is not UV stable. I was wondering if I could topcoat Rust Seal with your Motor Coater paint? I like one of the colors for Motor Coater. Quote
KBS Coatings Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 Yes, you can absolutely top coat RustSeal with Motor Coater. There are three effective ways to topcoat RustSeal effectively so that the coatings bond & fuse together. 1) Apply Motor Coater once the second or final coat of RustSeal is dry-to-the-touch and does not leave a fingerprint (usually 3-10 hours depending on temperature and humidity). 2) Let the second or final coat of RustSeal fully cure (at least 24 hours), scuff the RustSeal with 300 grit, then apply Motor Coater. 3) Let the second or final coat of RustSeal fully cure (at least 24 hours), dust the RustSeal with Fusion Self-Etching Primer, let the Fusion cure for 30 minutes, then apply your top coat. You can feel free to choose the method that will work for you. Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions. Quote
Daniel Posted April 27, 2019 Report Posted April 27, 2019 Can I paint my entire tractor with motor coater? The tractor and the engine are one in the same. This is a before picture. The engine, transmission and rear unit have all been gone through and it is in the process of being put back together. I guess the real question is, does the engine coater have UV protection? Quote
KBS Coatings Posted April 30, 2019 Report Posted April 30, 2019 Yes. Motor Coater is UV Stable meaning Motor Coater can be used as an exterior paint. For rust prevention on your tractor, it would be best to prep and then apply 2 coats of RustSeal followed by 1-2 coats of Motor Coater. Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions. Quote
