Can I paint something with say black rustseal paint and top coat it with a different color KBS MAXX paint?

  3. Started by Guest,

I painted my first coat of KBS Maxx on Saturday this past weekend. I've decided to put another coat and I was wondering if I can go ahead an paint the next coat or do I need to do some type of surface prep for the KBS Maxx to adhere to itself?

  4. Started by gofastman,

Wondering if anyone can give me a comparison of the durability of MAXX clear vs one of the top tier offerings form any of the major auto paint companies for use as a clear coat on a car. I live in an area that is very tough on cars as far as corrosion is concerned, and I just want to give the very expensive paint I just laid down the best protection I can get.

Can I use KBS Maxx on an engine block? If so, how would I prep the surface?

  6. Started by Guest,

I want to paint you KBS Maxx Clear on some bare steel. How would I prep the surface for best results. It's new steel with no rust.

Hi. I just restored a BMW motorcycle and painted the frame it KBS MAXX Hotrod Black. It turned out really well and seems to be super tough. I'm now doing a Kawasaki KZ550 and the frame is a satin black. There is a lot more sheen to it than the Hotrod Black I used before. Can I mix Hotrod Black with Pitch Black to get a better sheen? Do you have a starting point on the ratios i could mix to get a satin black color? Thanks

Are the KBS Maxx colors a high gloss, satin or flat?

  10. Started by Guest,

I'm looking to paint some bare metal with a clear coat. I see that you have the Diamond Finish and Maxx which is a two part product. What would work best to adhere directly to bare metal? Do they both have adhesion promoters? Which one is more durable? Thank you!

Can I use maxx clear on gel coat?

  12. Started by gf,

I'm restoring an older vehicle that has anodized aluminum wheels. The original coating is mostly gone, I'll be removing what's left with your KBS Strip. I'd like to keep the look as close to the original anodized finish, protected,, but not much of a shine. I thought maybe that I'd try your KBS Maxx clear flat. Any idea of how this might look? Any pictures you could share? Can KBS Maxx be used with a spray gun? If so, any specific instructions for use this way?

  13. Can KBS MAXX Clear be applied directly to clean, sandblasted metal? I am looking for a clear sealer to apply to an old steel boiler that has been sand blasted. I do not want to change or add any color but want to protect it from rust. (the steel is inside)

  14. how much would I need to be able to cover the undercarriage of a 67 mustang?

Any plans for a green color? I was hoping for a dark kelly or hunter green.

If I want to mix your standard Maxx colors to get different color options, do you have color mixing samples along with their mix ratios for Maxx paint ?

I am looking to make a copper color, what would be the best colors to mix to achieve this? Simply adding black to orange or mixing red with one of your yellows, probably school bus yellow?

Do you have a metallic additive if someone wants to make a particular color with Metalic highlights?

  22. Started by J2,

Hi. I've used gloss black Maxx on a couple of projects and have been very pleased with the results. I am restoring a BMW R100 that had a satin black frame from the factory. I was thinking about using Maxx low gloss black for the frame and engine casings. Is the low gloss truly flat or is there still some sheen to it. I really need something that still has a little sheen to it Thanks

Is KBS Maxx Clear a UV blocker? Will it prevent UV damage to the surface underneath?

  24. I've been using Diamond Clear as a finish coat for my fishing lures. I just dip and hang. Love it!!! How does this Maxx product compare and would it be a better option for my use? Thanks

  25. Started by dutch,

Can you use diamond finish clear over maxx?
