mixing rustseal and KBS maxx colors

Can I paint something with say black rustseal paint  and top coat it with a different color KBS MAXX paint?

Yes, it is quite common to coat over RustSeal in Black with a different color of KBS MAXX. Please scuff the fully cured RustSeal with 320 grit and then apply KBS MAXX.
