February 16, 201610 yr comment_3544 I put 2 coats of XTC primer and then 2 coats of XTC high temp paint (stainless steel) on my longtube headers. I recently seen that I need to bake them for 30 minutes to cure? Is that true, or do i not necessarily need to do that? February 16, 201610 yr comment_3545 Yes, for XTC and XTC Primer, you will want to do your heat cure to reach maximum adhesion and maximum durability. The easiest way to do that heat cure is to get the headers back on the engine (you can handle them before the heat cure) and fire up the engine and let the engine idle for 15-20 minutes and then turn off the engine and let the headers come back to room temperature naturally. Please check out the XTC Primer Directions and XTC Directions and let us know if you have any additional questions. February 16, 201610 yr Author comment_3546 Okay so does it matter when I do the cure? Cause I have them primed and painted already. I wasn't supposed to bake them inbetween the priming and painting phase right? February 16, 201610 yr comment_3547 The heat cure is done after the XTC Primer and XTC have been applied. There is no need to do heat cures between coats of XTC Primer and XTC. May 23, 20169 yr comment_3719 If you are desiring rust protection, it is always a good idea to use XTC Primer and then XTC. March 31, 20251 yr comment_9558 Yes, if rust protection is not a concern of yours, you can apply XTC direct to prepped bare metal which is covered at length in the XTC Directions to make it as easy as possible. Please let us know what other questions you might have.
