July 8, 20169 yr comment_3794 If I scuff an automotive paint and clean the surface can I paint Rust Seal over it? I've heard these type of paints cause the paint underneath to come up. July 13, 20169 yr comment_3797 Yes. If the automotive paint is cured 100%, you can scuff the surface with 300 grit, clean the painted surface with KBS Klean, and then paint with RustSeal. Always apply RustSeal in thin, covering coats. Please check out the RustSeal Directions and let us know if you have any additional questions.
