May 6, 20169 yr comment_3689 Do you recommend using KBS Klean and Rust Blast before painting the XTC? I haven't decided if I want to use the XTC Primer yet. What are the benefits of using the primer? Will it last longer? May 6, 20169 yr comment_3691 After you have sandblasted or used a type C flap wheel cleaning system, you should clean the surface with KBS Klean. You do not have to use the RustBlast. The zinc phosphate that RustBlast leaves behind will not withstand the temperatures that XTC Primer and XTC will withstand. So, if you do use RustBlast, when rinsing the surface, use a green pad and massage the surface as you rinse with water to make sure all of the zinc phosphate is removed. XTC Primer promotes adhesion and also provides the rust protection. If the part you are coating will be exposed to the elements, we always recommend using XTC Primer before the XTC to provide the rust protection. Also, if you like the color of the XTC Primer, you can leave it. You do not have to top coat the XTC Primer with XTC. Please check out the XTC Primer Directions and the XTC Directions and let us know if you have any additional questions.
