UV Protection

Featured Replies

I am using Diamond finish over candy paints and have had a piece in full sun for 4 years, no yellowing , awesome. My question is what protection does Diamondfinish have to protect the product underneath, like paints that may fade in sun, also wanted to put some over the epoxy coating on a Stand Up Paddle board to offer UV protection. Thanks for the reply on the food safe question.

DiamondFinish Clear is completely UV stable but like other clear coats, it does not absorb or block UV rays. We always recommend applying the DiamondFinish Clear over a bare metals surface or a surface painted with a UV stable paint or coating.

Hi KBS, how does this clear coat stop the headlights from yellowing again, vs. just polishing the lights?

Yes, because of the way the DiamondFinish Clear melts in to the headlight lens, DiamondFinish Clear does help the headlight to not yellow again as well as "polishes" the headlight.

Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions.

But that isn't explaining "how" it will keep your headlights from yellowing.  I'm not saying it does not prevent yellowing, but I don't understand how it "helps" it.  If the polycarbonate under can be reached through the Diamond Clear, by the UV rays, how is it better than nothing?  Thank you.

The DiamondFinish Clear melts in to the polycarbonate and stabilizes its uv stability. That is the reason DiamondFInish Clear is applied in thin coats to a scuffed surface allowing it to melt in to the existing surface.

Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions.
