RustBlast and Body Filler

Featured Replies

I understand the recommended way of using body filler (2 coats KBS -> Body Filler-> 300 Grit-> Rust Seal) but sparing all the details of why, there may be a time in my project where Rustblast will come in contact with cured Bondo before it is coated with RustSeal. I am curious as to the effect of Rustblast on the Bondo.

Is there any problem with coating RustSeal over Bondo that has been exposed to RustBlast?

RustBlast should not affect the fully cured Bondo in any way. All you have to do is wipe the RustBlast off and then let it dry, then scuff the Bondo with 300 grit before applying the RustSeal over the Bondo.

Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions.

I'm about to finish the metal work on a metal table, I have a few places that will require a little filler (bondo). Should I apply KBS Klean, prior to filling? If I do, will I need to reapply before applying Rust Seal?

It is best practice to prep the surface with KBS Klean and RustBlast and then seal up the surface with Rusthttps://www.kbs-coatings.com/rustseal.htmlSeal before doing your filler/bondo work. This helps to prevent the filler/bondo from popping off.

Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions.
