As long as you clean the rivet heads with KBS Klean and then etch them with RustBlast, RustSeal will bond and bite well to the stainless steel. Here is the process:Clean the rivet heads with KBS Klean. Rinse thoroughly with water before it dries, then let them dry completely.Apply RustBlast full strength and keep the surface wet for a minimum of 30 minutes, re-applying as needed so it never dries.Rinse thoroughly with water before the RustBlast dries, then let the rivets dry completely. A slight white powder left behind is zinc phosphate, and it helps RustSeal adhere, so leave it in place.Apply RustSeal in thin coats, a minimum of 2 coats at 2 mils each, with 2 to 6 hours between coats.Before you get started, we strongly recommend reading through the complete application directions for each product.
