Wednesday at 06:56 PM1 day comment_10426 Greetings,Just finished my canoe with 1 coat of KBS and I know I did a couple things wrong that I can identify. First, my coat was too thick, I used the wrong brush and I went back and tried to work out the runs. Not gonna get into how this stuff ate right thought the red party cup I was working out of. I want to identify what is in this pic. I’m thinking way too much humidity…. We just want to be sure we know what you're using because "KBS" is our brand name and we have hundreds of products. We don't want to assume you're using a certain product, give you advice or guidance, and then find out you're using a different product. We look forward to hearing back from you. 14 hours ago14 hr comment_10435 Thanks. You are correct on most of what you have already stated. We can see quite a bit of surface tension in the pictures. How did you prep the bare surface before you applied the DiamondFinish Clear? We are looking forward to hearing back from you. 12 hours ago12 hr Author comment_10436 I prepped by sanding the complete canoe with 600 grit sandpaper and then wiped down with mineral spirits. I waited about 30 minutes and wiped down again to be sure the mineral spirits were evaporated and then applied the clear coat. I used a brush but had a lot of trouble preventing runs on the completely vertical areas. I have an about 40% of a quart left.Jeremy Link to comment https://success.kbs-coatings.com/topic/7599-too-much-humidity/#findComment-10436 Share on other sites Share on X Share on Facebook {lang="reddit_text" Share via email Share on Pinterest
 12 hours ago12 hr comment_10437 MIneral spirits leave behind a residue, so that explains what is seen in the photos. Next time, always use KBS Klean which does not leave a residue. At this point, sand smooth. Clean with a mild solution of KBS Klean. Rinse. Let dry. Bone dry. Then apply a thin, covering coat of DiamondFinish Clear that has been stirred incredibly well. Add additional thin coats as needed. Here is the key to your success -> DiamondFinish Clear Application Directions. After you have carefully reviewed the application directions, please reach back out with additional questions that you might have.
