XTC clear coat over prepped raw block/head.

Featured Replies

Hello and hope all is well in these crazy times.

I have a current 4cyl project that I'm having the block and head vapor blasted before deep cleaning and assembly. Both block and head will be prepped with 80grit abrasive balls, stepping up to about a 220 grit.

Question 1: will the XTC clear gloss be sufficient to adhere to said motor as is without any primer/base?

Question 2: I have a set of aluminum wheels to be sand blasted and plan to just spray the clear over them after a deep clean of course.

Has anyone done either of these procedures with positive or negative results?

Thank you in advance.

Pictures would be greatly appreciated!

1) XTC Clear is designed to go over a color of XTC to add gloss. XTC Clear is not designed for direct to metal applications, however, we have had customers successfully use it for this.

2) Yes, DiamondFinish Clear is ideal for aluminum wheels that have been sandblasted with fresh and not recycled sand.
