bneukirch Posted August 27, 2016 Report Posted August 27, 2016 I build custom tables and I often put printed corporate logos on the table top. I usually seal with a two part epoxy but it is a mess to work with and scratches very easy and yellows over time. The table tops are covered with a maple veneer and I apply one(1) coat of minmax polycrylic to seal the wood and sand with 320. I then apply the printed vinyl logos. Can I use Diamond clear to seal the table top with the logos without causing the ink on the logos to run or peel up? I spray all my stuff with an Earlex 5500 HVLP spray station, will I be able to use this gun to spray Diamond Clear? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. http://www.earlex.com/earlex-hvlp-spraystation-hv5500/ Quote
KBS Coatings Posted August 28, 2016 Report Posted August 28, 2016 Yes, you can absolutely use DiamondFinish Clear to seal the table tops. This is a very common application because DiamondFinish Clear goes on water clear, does not yellow, and is incredibly durable. As long as your vinyl printed logos are fully cured, the DiamondFinish Clear can be applied right over them and the ink should not run and the vinyl should not peel up. The HVLP spray gun you reference should work perfectly. You can thin DiamondFinish Clear up to 30% for spray applications if needed. TIP: Always apply thin, covering coats. Do not apply heavy coats. Please check out the DiamondFinish Clear Directions and let us know if you have any additional questions. Quote
