Adam Posted August 19, 2015 Report Posted August 19, 2015 Hey there, I just had some wheels powdercoated and noticed a number of spots where the powder is thin and not covering appropriately and I was just curious if I can black top on top of a cleaned powdercoated black and clear wheel and if it will adhere with no problems? I plan to follow the black top up with the clear topcoat KBS sells. Let me know if this is feasable. Thanks! Quote
KBS Coatings Posted August 19, 2015 Report Posted August 19, 2015 Yes, you can apply BlackTop over powder coated surfaces and this is a very common application when someone does not want to remove the powder coating but wants a much tougher and more durable finish. Scuff the surface with 320 grit (green pad) and then pressure wash or clean with KBS Klean before apply 1-2 coats of BlackTop. You can then clear over the BlackTop with DiamondFinish Clear for additional gloss and durability. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. Quote
