June 17, 201510 yr comment_3171 I need a coating to use on the inside of engine cases and transmission cases on vintage motorcycles. In the past, manufacturers used red lead paint -- obviously not an option today! Rebuilders for the past 40 years have used Glyptal enamel, or, more recently, Loctite 290. Is KBS RustSeal a viable alternative for this application? Thanks. June 17, 201510 yr comment_3172 Yes, RustSeal works very well on the inside of oil pans, engine cases, and transmission cases. We recommend a glossy color like the gloss black because it is a slicker finish. Because those areas are typically very contaminated with oil, transmission fluid, etc., if you do not sandblast the surface, please make sure you spend time getting the surface cleaned really well with the KBS Klean and etched really well with the RustBlast. Please be sure to check out the complete RustSeal Directions. Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions.
