High Temp Clear Coat

Recommended Posts

I custom make large steel fire pits and have been using a Rustoleum product for clear coating the pits once they are free of any visible rust.  It works okay, but I still get some surface spotting and over time I do believe it wears out.  The big problem is that I can't cure this product because I don't have a large kiln.  So, I wanted to see if there are any suggestions on high temp products I could use.  Mainly clear and black.  www.ssfirepits.com

The Jet Black XTC is used on smokers all of the time.  Just get a coat of the XTC Primer down and then 1-2 coats of the XTC Jet Black. I know you are concerned about your ability to heat cure, but you should be able to do that the first time you heat the fire pit up.  Heat it up and let it stay hot for 20-30 minutes.  Then let it cool off.  Once you do that, it has been heat cured.
