March 20, 201313 yr comment_2689 I have a gas tank from a 1998 mustang that was sitting with ethanol enhanced gasoline. It destroyed the pump, so I bought a pump, but when I got ready to put it in, I noticed that the factory coating in the tank had turned to a gummy substance. How do I strip that gummy substance out? The tank is 17 gallons. March 25, 201313 yr comment_2694 You can use KBS Strip to strip out that gummy substance which is most likely an old failed coating. If the tank is 17 gallons, you will want to get 2 quarts or 1 gallon of KBS Strip. After you have stripped out the old sealer, you can use the KBS 3 Step Tank Sealing System to clean (the Strip residue), etch and seal up your tank to prevent it from rusting in the future.
