fordman76 Posted April 8, 2012 Report Share Posted April 8, 2012 I was wondering if i could use the stop rust products on a trailer. I need a tough coating on it due to paint getting scratched off. I noticed that if this product is exposed to alot of sunlight it will discolor, but will it keep its finish if i apply the diamond coat clear coat over the stop rust paint? KBS Coatings Posted April 9, 2012 Report Share Posted April 9, 2012 Using the RustSeal on a Horse Trailer is a very common application. Many of our customers will use the Galvanized Steel color of RustSeal because of the enhanced UV stability, but you can also use any color of RustSeal and then top coat the RustSeal with a UV stable solid color top coat. We do not recommend using a Clear Coat over RustSeal because Clear Coats can be UV stable but they are not UV blockers. Clear Coats will allow the UV rays through to RustSeal and this can cause delamination over time. What color do you want your final color to be?
