chenrickson
Just wondering if I need to use the HI-temp Primer on my sandblasted wood stove prior to applying Hi-Temp "cast iron" paint? After all the primer is only resistant up to 1200 degrees where as the paint is good to 1500 degrees. What would be the best procedure for successfully painting a stove? Thanks
KBS Coatings
If you want the best rust protection on your wood stove, please apply one coat of the Hi-Temp Primer and then at least one coat of Hi-Temp Cast Iron Grey. chenrickson
The stove will be indoors and used infrequently so I'm thinking of not priming per instructions and putting down about 3 coats of Hi Temp paint. Should I heat cure between coats or just start a fire in the stove after all 3 coats are applied? Thanks for Replying.
KBS Coatings
Sounds like a plan. 3 coats of Hi-Temp would be great. Heat cure it to 350 degrees for 20 minutes for each coat. Let us know if you have any other questions.
