January 28, 201115 yr comment_2082 Can the various Hi-Temp paints be used over bare aluminum? Over anodized aluminum? Wish to repaint my motorcycle mufflers - scratched one, and sanded out the scratches - now need to pretty it up. Also, would I need to clearcoat afterwards to protect from UV, and is the clearcoat hi-temp resistant (the mufflers get quite hot, though certainly not 1500F!). Thanks! January 28, 201115 yr comment_2427 Yes. You can use the Hi-Temp over bare aluminum. Please make sure you use the Hi-Temp Primer to ensure great adhesion. You do not need to clear coat and if you did want to, you would need to find a clear coat that would be acceptable in your temperature range.
