Large Rust Hole

Featured Replies

i have a larger rust hole that formed as i began to grind on the rust probably about 5 inches long and 2 inches wide what should i do to fill it? would NU metal work for something that large? was going to try fiberglass but would it hold if i rust sealed over it?

5 inches by 2 inches is a rather large hole. You would need to weld some new steel in there. After you have done that, seal it up with the RustSeal so that it does not rust again.

i figured i would have to i just wondered how good this stuff really was if it could handle it.. Thanks for the info i'll try something!!

It is good stuff and will handle filling and patching holes. But your hole is just simply too large.

So another question! After I get the hole cover and the body filler over it and looks good do i rust seal over that or just prime it and be done with it?

I would RustSeal before the body filler so that you have your metal patch all sealed and you do not have to worry about the metal rusting under your body filler.

Yes. We would recommend going over the bondo with a coat or two of RustSeal.
