plowguy
I have a snow plow that I intend to sandblast, then RustBlast and RustSeal. I would like to topcoat it with a color that matches the red RustSeal very closely. A few questions: I want to confirm that if I spray on my topcoat within 6-12 hours (according do your diagram here: http://www.kbs-coatings.com/Flow-Chart--RustSeal-on-Steel_ep_87-1.html) I do not need to sand and etch it as long as I do it within this timeframe correct? What categories of topcoat paints (a brand recommendation would be nice), in your experience, adhere well. I'm looking for a UV protective option. Are the paints I should avoid? Lastly, I anticipate 3 coats of RustSeal. Is a quart enough to do a plow or - do I need a gallon (I think around 40 sq ft front/back)? What are the coverages? Thanks. Yes. That is correct. "What categories of topcoat paints (a brand recommendation would be nice), in your experience, adhere well. I'm looking for a UV protective option. Are the paints I should avoid?" You will want to use a good Automotive Grade or Marine Grade Top Coat. "Lastly, I anticipate 3 coats of RustSeal.
