Jminzler79
Just curious as ive looked through the forums, and not sure if I missed a post or not but I haven't seen anything about the possibility of coating wheels... what could you use and how would you protect it from the sun fading it if this is possible... Jminzler79
I'm wanting to say they are aluminum wheels, they are a aftermarket wheel.... I picked them up about a month ago and im debating on powder coating them or using your product because ive used it on other things before... KBS Coatings
Thanks. We absolutely have products for aluminum wheels. What color do you want or do you want a clear coat?
Jminzler79
Well I've been debating between a gloss black or just stick with a silver... now being these will be in sunlight will that effect the finish after awhile... I have black frame coat on my truck and it faded from a gloss black to a flat black... is there a way to protect from the sun...
KBS Coatings
RustSeal can fade in sunlight but that is not what you would use on wheels. For a clear coat, clean the wheels well with KBS Klean following the directions for an aluminum surface. Let the surface get bone dry. Then apply DiamondFinish Clear. Always thin coats and for wheels, at least 3 coats would be ideal. DiamondFinish Clear is not affected by sunlight as it is UV stable. For a gloss black finish, clean the wheels with KBS Klean following the directions for an aluminum surface. Let the surface get bone dry. Apply a dust coat of KBS Fusion Self-Etching Primer. Let dry 1 hour. Then apply thin coats of BlackTop in Gloss Black. Always apply BlackTop in thin coats and at least 2-3 coats for wheels. BlackTop is not affected by sunlight as it is UV stable. Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions.
Jminzler79
Now other then black top if I wanted to go silver, or randomly any other color what do you have as for a color choice... I mean it is more then likely I will go with black or silver... but just looking at the options out there for myself or anybody else who wants color... KBS Coatings
Metallic colors are always best sprayed, so KBS MAXX is ideal for a silver color on your wheels. KBS MAXX is incredible durably, easy to spray and looks great! Please let us know if that helps and if you have any other questions.
