Motor Coater on top of existing unknown brand engine paint

Recommended Posts

Hello, I would like to try Motor Coater on top of my existing engine paint.  It is a clean, low mileage engine that the current paint seems to be adhered to very well.  I am thinking I can clean the engine, scuff it with a scotch brite pad (unsure of which color pad) then clean again prior to top coating with Motor Coater.  Do you see any issues with this process?  Of course I realize that your product will only adhere if the base product does as well.  I really don't want to have to strip my engine to bare metal if I can avoid it.  Thank you, Mike

Clean, scuff, clean is a great way to prep a painted surface for Motor Coater.

As you said, use KBS Klean mixed with hot water and make sure you scuff all surfaces with a green pad (or equivalent) and once the surface is rinsed and dry, it is ready for Motor Coater.

Please be sure to check out the Motor Coater Directions and let us know if you have any additional questions.
