bcoreyjohnson Posted August 4, 2013 Report Posted August 4, 2013 I just got some of the newly formulated Diamond Finish, and did a side by side comparison between the new DF and the old DF. I polished an aluminum panel to 4000 grit, cleaned it thoroughly, and brushed a coat of the new DF on half and the old DF (without adhesion promoter) on the other half. I let that dry for 3 days, sanded it with 320 grit and brushed on a second coat. After another 4 days, I cut and polished the DF down to 4000 grit (looks great). Finally, I did a cross cut adhesion test using a 2x2 grid of 1/2" squares and duct tape. The old DF failed big time! It ripped right off the surface in big chunks. However, the new DF passed with flying colors! I had 100% adhesion after pulling the tape 3 times. Though I have not tested it on steel, this seems like a great product for standard applications over aluminum and (I'm assuming) other non ferrous metals. Quote
