paint my trunk floor

i need to know if i can paint my trunk floor and still haul my junk in my trunk like jack tire tool etc without scratching it up?is it better to spray it on or brush ?and if brush how bad streaks if i paint do i mix and how much mix? thanks forany advice!how long shelf life also
