  2. As long as the surface stays clean out of the elements, you do not need to do any prep when apply another coating over a surface that has been etch with RustBlast. Please let us know of that helps and if you have any other questions.
  3. That definitely helps. I have another question. If I am not able to apply the rust reformer on the same day as I apply the KBS Rust Blast, do you have any suggestion s on how I should prep the area before I apply the rust reformer?

  5. “Used DiamondFinish Clear to coat my new aluminum flagpole. Product went on like a dream. Flagpole looks great and my DIY coating saved me a couple hundred dollars for a "factory finish”. The product appears to be very tough, withstanding the constant "clanking" of the halyard clips. Now I'm looking for other applications!” -Kevin from Portland, TN With a little imagination, DiamondFinish Clear has an unlimited number of applications for clear coating over steel surface as well as non-ferrous surfaces like polished aluminum. DiamondFinish Clear is a crazy t

  7. If you brush over an area over and over again with RustSeal forcing the solvents out, you run the risk of the brush marks not flowing out as well they are designed to flow out. That is all. Nothing other than cosmetic. Yes, you can use KBS Klean to remove toluene residue and we highly recommend that. Please let us know if that helps and if you have any other questions.
  8. Yes, DiamondFinish Clear will adhere to glass. Clean the glass really well with KBS Klean and a green pad. Let the surface get bone dry. Then apply DiamondFinish Clear. Always thin coats and at least 2 coats. Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions.
  9. Yes, you can apply RustSeal over any cured coating like Rust Reformer that has been lightly scuff with 300 grit and cleaned with KBS Klean. Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions.
  10. HI, 1.,I wonder if I overworked the paint while brushing as it was going off pretty quick it was not sticky anymore after approx 2 hrs. Gave it 2nd coat, so it is what it is now, just wondering what are the consequences of overworking it? 2.,For next area I need to paint, I wonder how I can remove the toluene residue, as I needed to use thinners to remove some mastic and adhesive. Instructions says toluene residue is a no-no. Thanks!
  11. will diamondfinish stick to glass? Like to seal cracks in a solar panel?
  12. Yes, you can put DiamondFinish Clear over a fully cured UV stable solid color top coat. This adds gloss and durability. Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions.
  13. Many thanks for the continued answers. Also, I had one more question. Once I paint over the rust seal, is the clear diamond finish over the solid color a good idea?
  14. As long as the surface is still clean, simply scuff with 300 grit. That is all you need to do and the solid color top coat will adhere very well. Please let us know if that helps and if you have any other questions.
  15. Also, once I paint over the rust seal, is the clear diamond finish over the solid color a good idea?
  16. This definitely helps. Thanks! Do you recommend any particular preparation to the rust seal, other than the scuffing, before applying the solid color over it?
  17. Yes, you can apply RustSeal over fully cured Rust Reformer that has been scuffed up slightly with 300 grit. We recommend a solid color top coat over RustSeal when the RustSeal will be exposed to sunlight on a consistent basis. We do not recommend a clear coat (like DiamondFinish Clear) over RustSeal. For car door seams, most people would coat over the RustSeal with touch up paint from your car dealer. Please let us know if that helps and if you have any additional questions.
  18. Would it be effective to apply Rust Seal over Rustoleum Rust Reformer, or any rust reformer for that matter? I have rust at the bottoms of my car door seams and would like to remove the rust with rust reformer and then apply rust seaI and then KBS Clear Diamond Finish. I don’t have a garage to work in so the complete KBS system would be difficult to implement.

  20. At KBS Coatings, we love Rat Rods just as much a Classic Car restored to original OEM perfection. Rat Rods are really fun and allow for creativity and artistry. But as with any vehicle, you need something to protect the vehicle and DiamondFinish Clear is an ideal clear coat to keep a patina look on your Rat Rod. Check out the 1974 Challenger and the beautiful stainless steel patina look.
  21. Yes, go ahead and do the RustBlast to etch that surface and create an ideal surface profile for the adhesion of RustSeal. Rinse with water and then dry immediately to minimize any flash rust created from the humidity in the air. Please let us know if that helps and if you have any other questions.
  22. HI, The sandblasting does not seem to be working out very well, as you can see it on the photo. Done a short test run along, where I point with my fingers. The clean metal gets an excellent finish, but the rust does not clean out properly. I guess I have to clean up the whole lot and do the rust blaster acid treatment everywhere, otherwise the rust does not get stabilized, correct? Your advise would be much appreciated. Thanks! ( pls see pic in original enquiry)
  23. 1. Can I Aquaklean/ rust blast the shiny steal, only sandblast rusty areas and rustseal it all, or would it be more beneficial to aquaklean /rust blast / water wipe blasted areas as well? As long as the sand blast material was fresh (not recycled) and the surface has been kept clean, please go straight to the RustSeal step for those areas. 2. Blasting media will be ordinary sandpit sand ( friend left many bags with me from moving) It may be beach sand, is the possible salt content a problem? No. Blow off the sand blast residue with fresh clean air. That is all you have to
  24. Hello, I need to paint these foot wells / floor. I have read all the instructions available. Some of the surface is still perfect, was no rust underneath paint. I need to minimize the amount of sandblasting I have to do. I have cleaned everything before grinding / sanding with aqua klean. Sanded / wire wheeled surfaces. Now I am about to sand blast the rusty areas. I was hoping not to put any water on the previously rusted / sand blasted areas. Please see photo attached, please note sanding is not 100% finished I will sand off all remaining paint from low points etc.
  25. Yes, minimal flash rust (which is mixed with the zinc phosphate and probably mostly zinc phosphate) is perfectly fine and the zinc phosphate aids in the adhesion of the Tank Sealer. Please reach out if you have any additional questions.
  26. ok, yes once it was rinsed i used my blower to blow it out and dry it quickly. is minimal flash rust assume it is ok to continue on and coat ?
  27. Yes, that is very normal unless you live in a no humidity environment like the desert. To minimize this flash rust if you desire, force dry the tank as soon as you finish rinsing the RustBlast. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any additional questions.
  28. great, I did step one then step two, when doing step 2 about 95 of the surface was metal and very little sections of rust. looked very good, as soon as i rinsed it started to flash rust all over there was no lag time i was flashing before i could even start to dry it ? is this normal or how to i prevent or stop the flash rust ??
